just a quick noob question here, are lp tanks basically made so taht you can run lp markers without an in-line reg?

if you only need 400psi into a reg and then the reg, regulates it down further there is really no need to input 800psi.

some(most) regs can regulate 800 just as well as a lower input.

yes...and there is some debate (and little science) on whether or not using a 400/450 input instead of 800 on a marker that regulates it down even further has any benefit or not (I'm one that believes that the lower input does benefit...but it's all opinions without science right now)

Yes and no. The spring stack on the mini-regs of the newer angels are set up for 400/450 input. a simple change puts them back to 800

I seem to get better consistency when using a LP tank on my bushmaster. The reason I think is that the regulator doesn't have to work as hard to regulate 450PSI tank down to 225PSI as it does when regulating a 800PSI tank down to 225PSI.

I haven't done much testing, but I notice when shooting over a chrono with a HP tank the FPS fluctuates more than when using a LP tank. I'm unsure if it's because of my setup because I have a 2004 Mac Dev gladiator and I have the older o-ring retainer. I just got the upgraded one that is suppose to work better with HP tanks.

i have owned a LP crossfire, and a HP crossfire, both on LP markers, i really cant tell a difference

so basically, the theory is to do part of the inline reg's or built-in reg's work for it?

right. the only problem arises when your LP tank is too close to the pressure you're regging down to. use a LP tank on a double regged system and you're hosed (most of the time) regulators need a decent sized pressure differential between their input and output pressures, otherwise they're just glorified gas-thru's. (i've got a funny story of my friend running his autococker off an armageddon set to 200 PSI and then through a sidewinder, doing little to nothing but he thought it would improve flow since, duh, it's low pressure!)

thats why i would get a high out-put, or adjustable tank, that way you wont over regulate and starve the gun
