    Travelling with paintball markers

What are the most current guidelines with regard to transporting paintball supplies (applicable to air travel over this Thanksgiving).

Take the safe route. Ship everything via UPS or FedEx. One thing that people overlook, is that unless you state higher value and pay the fee based on value, your checked baggage is only insured for $1000-$1500 on most airlines. This would not be enough to cover a lost bag with gear in it. Not to mention, trying to deal with airport security.

            Value of Marker: $850
Value of clothing: Was all free, I don't really care if it gets lost (No, my parents didn't buy me my clothing, its just all freebee stuff from the last 12 years, I'm cheap like that

*shrug* The bigger deal is I wasn't planning to check a bag, but I guess I will...

Umm, no, value of clothes is what ever it would cost to replace them all, not what you paid for them. Think about it. I know it is only Thanksgiving break, so you will not have all that many clothes, but could you imagine how much you would have to spend to replace these said clothes? That is money out of your pocket.

That being said, I was making it a general statement about anyone who flys with gear. It is the one thing they do not think about. Same goes for Carry ons. most of the time the insured value is way under the cost of that laptop most people carry with them. Though I do feel safer with the laptops under the seat infront of me than in the hands of the baggage monkeys

Don't get me wrong, I whole heartedly agree with everything you just said. (Especially about the replacing of clothes). However, I have too much clothing. Every tennis tournament I've played in gives out free shirts, every tennis season I got 6-10 new shirts from the school. Heck I dunno if anyone has seen the rags I use at PBX.... They are Free T-shirts, almost always the same kind that I wear. (Shows you how little I care about what I wear).

Ok, so, say we're going to IAO. We don't want to fly with the markers, so where do we ship them? The hotel we're staying at?

TP: You can ship them to the hotel, but make sure you call first and let them know. Or you can always ship them to a good friend that lives close by

I understand what you're saying, but even then you're probably not covered for much. Many airlines only insure your baggage by the pound (and price those pounds based on average clothing weight).

But, before anyone worries too much, check your home insurance policies. They may cover theft, loss, or damage at sufficient levels.

Or, you can have the shipper hold it at their offices.

But yea, the hotel is a good choice (if you call them first to confirm they'll accept the package).
