    Stupid question

Ok, so i'm a rec ball player.... I hate speedball..... Problem is that the only field around here is a speedball field and i'm going into paintball withdrawels. I can put a paintball down a barrel with my red dot sight but I can't hit the broad side of a barn without it. The sight's great for the woods.... not so much for playing on postage stamps
So, I need tips. I gotta pull off that bloody sight and learn to shoot without it (with pf right MM body). Any ideas on this......besides the obvious one of go buy paint and shoot shoot shoot? Looking for any pointers.
Also, i'm looking into getting a vert feed body (if I can actually hit anything w/o the sight). Do they make any with sight rails....for armson's or the like? Thanks

    Buy V-Balls or Reballs.

Shoot shoot shoot (in your basement).

Try to move away from sighting, and use your marker enough that you have a feel for where it will go. In speedball, there's usually little time for sighting, but if you want to, line the end of the gun up with your nose, and look at your target. There's no substitute for getting to know the feel of your gun though.
Go to Backwoods Paintball in Harriman, TN: Near Lenoir City, Knoxville, and Oak Ridge

Go to the Team Backwoods website, or else you'll get cancer.

yeah, that's the funny part. I know my mag like the back of my hand with the sight. I'm a drooling idiot without it. Probably a mental block I gotta work through I think it may have something to do with the way I hold the thing though.....seeing that the sight rail + sight is a good 2 or 3 inches higher then the body. Gotta train myself to hold the marker higher on my shoulder *shrug*

in the absense of being able to train everyday, do as the other guy mentioned and pick up your gun everyday and as much as you can. Throw some stances and get uber comfy with it. Try it lefty, righty, kneeling, lying down. You can practice snap shots by standing in front of a mirror and snapping at yourself (without paint its hard, but you can get a feel for it cause when you snap out, you can see if your barrel is pointing at your reflection or not).

The key phrase here is to "get comfy" with your marker. Do this everyday for an hour and you will get results.

Also check that your gun is set up correctly to suit your style. You may think it is, but try out some other stuff, like a rail if you currently use a drop forward. Maybe a longer barrel will help you judge where you are pointing your gun better. That sort of thing.

http://webdogradio.us/ - Watch his tip clips. They're very helpful.

I would actually have to recommend the obvious myself... how I got better...

yeah, I think a problem is that I am already very comfy with my mag. I've spent mucho bucks to get it just the way I want it. The issue IS that it's a new ball game without the sight. I'll try "fondling" it without the rail...see what happens
I soooo miss the local wood field. 5 acres....trees....big ferns..... *sigh*
Played that way for 10 years or so. Speedball is a definate major change.

i think in paintball people generally like what they try first. one of my friends played woodsball for a while, then started playing speedball. he still likes woodsball a lot better. My first time playing was on a speedball field, and i went back to the same place for a while before trying woodsball. i like speedball, but dont like woodsball. i got one of my friends into paintball, and he went speedballing his first few times, then woodsballing later. he prefers speedball, but also likes woodsball. the same pattern seems to occur in my other friends too, and i think that thats why you like woodsball but hate speedball. but since your only option is speedball, maybe if you play it more and learn to play it well you will grow to like it.

back to the topic, i cant really suggest anything but to follow the advice the others gave you. just try practicing without the sight.

Well, this website is very cool. Good info all around. I would have to agree about liking what you play first. Kinda like a first impression for a job interview....it's the most important. I've only played speedball twice. First time was in a tourniment and I never heard so much whining or saw so much cheating......left a bad taste. Second time was a friendly 3 on 3 game. Was better then the tourny, but the taste soured it. But I haven't played in over a year now and the beer gut's a growin' so maybe this next speedball experiance will be different....heck, it's gotta be, cause it's indoor for goodness sake!
