re: barrel lengths
I represent an up and coming paintball manufacturer, and from everything we've been able to determine, the length of the barrel is redundant past the first 8". In those first eight inches, the gas has pushed the ball to it's top velocity. The gas' charge then escapes through any porting the barrel might have and the ball loses speed from then on.
It doesn't seem to effect overall performance as long as the barrel isn't over 14". Beyond that, it just adds extra friction and could impact on velocity. This is all assuming the barrel is straight, of course, the Flatline works on a different principle by putting backspin on the ball. Personally, a 10-12" barrel is best. The less surface area (even barrel length) you show you're opponent means the less of a target he has to hit. Thanks for letting me rant.http://www.fighterxsports.com
