    Paintball in lecture today

In Street Law class today the professor mentioned paintball. We've been studying torts and more specifically waivers/liability issues. He was explaining that a waiver is never a 100% defence against a law suit since there are so many holes in them. The example he used was paintball. He says, "If you go play paintball, the waiver is only going to cover injuries related to the game." If you are injured lets say by tripping over a rock or bulge in the floor for example, you can still sue. It was cool. Just goes to show you how much we're mainstreaming into regular culture. Remember when you use to say, "I play paintball" and people responded, "Oh you play ping pong"? Now I never have to explain myself twice.

Man, I though I was the only one who had the "ping-pong" problem. The thing is, I still get that, even now that every store with a sporting-goods section sells markers.

think of the mayhem that would ensue if pinball guns really did happen......6oz stell balls breaking bones and blinding people. i'd give it one hour maybe two before it was outlawed

haha yeah, my grandmother thought i played pinball for a while there... she still doesnt understand what paintball is though.

and i think we had this topic before, someone mentioned that for it to be impossible to get around a waver it would have about 20 pages and you would have to sign after every paragraph and have 3 witnesses to testify that you read and signed it.

I should have sued a year or so back, I broke my arm playing at an "Urban Course" in Seattle while raining.

Hardwood Floor + Rain = Accident. My friend broke his leg there on my birthday party.

They didn't even refund my entry-fee.

Meh, I'd never sue a paintball field, thats just bad. Never could hurt anything I like so much.

My Uncle who is a lawyer has been saying this though. He said their is very little reason to sign the waviers. At a local field a kid shot thru a rental barrel sock and shot another kids eye out, he signed a wavier, but the kids eye would got shot got lots of money. Waviers=almost pointless.

I've heard it before - it gets even more confusing when asking me about it.
