Is it possible to powdercoat.. or maybe plate a classic valve? maybe masking the insides or something?

I did one years ago. I coated a classic valve and the body. Did them in gloss black. They look like they had been black chromed.
The powder unit we had at work had fine enough adjustments that I was able to lay it on about 3/4 of a thousandths thick on each piece. I ended up with a total of one and a half thousandths build up on both pieces, the valve, body and rail. It looked really sharp.
I forgot all about the serial number on the valve and covered it up coating it. Oops.

        Sure,
as 50 cal said, be careful with the amount of material bewteen the rail and valve.

What type of system were you using? We have both wagner automated booths as well as hand spray units. Did you attach a ground to each piece? Do you by chance remember the mil thickness?

I don't see any problem with it. I would just tape the bottom off like I do for Mag bodies and rails.

I was thinking about powder coating the velocity adjuster on my RT valve, I just haven't had time to do it.

When I worked at Barrett Firearms, the powder booth is a GemaVolstatic. The mil thickness was *I think* .7 or .8 mil. They have a mil thickness hand held unit and I'm almost positive the thickness was .7 or .8
The powder they used was Fuller, from Dallas I believe. They use someone else now.
The gloss black was really nice looking once it was cured. I remember Fuller discontinued the gloss black.

The booth had a rod that ran overhead in the booth. I had a grounding wire through the pieces to be coated, and used them to hang in the oven to cure also.
