Your best bet is to get hold of a copy of the patents and a good patent attorney to decipher what it does and does not cover - even with attorneys it seems not everyone can agree on what is and is not. VERY few people have the expertise in the field, and of this specific case, to answer your question accurately.Originally posted by SpedApplei need to know like what exactly the sp patent covers so i know i i can sell my gun if i make it. thats the big beef lots of people have with smartfarts. they patented their microswitch, but have been trying to protect their market share by going after all different kinds of electro switches. they lost a lawsuit agianst wdp not long ago. if you are planning on doing anykind of wide spread distribution or putting allot of money into your design and production, id talk to an attorney and ensure you avoid patent infringement, though that may not even save you from a lawsuit.
good luck with your gun no matter what you choose to do!

If yor serious about manufacturing and retailling a Marker you had BETTER get some legal guidance. Patent law will only be the least of your concerns.

sift through the posts reguarding SP, sooner or later you'll find a patent # (in fact I know you will since I posted about the relative patents) and you can look at EXACTLY what the patents are for.
Or you can go to the US Patent office online and search for "Smart Parts" or "William Gardner" that should pull up all the patents that SP owns.
EDIT: Scratch that, looks like I posted that on another forum, whoops

i love this forum so much. on pbnation i ask stuff like this i get a "go die, go parachute with a schoolbag, and the famous shut up sped." Anyhow good idea with thepatent attorney. Maybe i should just give up on electrics and switch to manual 3/4/5 way valvesComment
