    I would like to.

But, I've heard too many negative things about the only series I know about in the area from my wife's cousin who used to play on a heavily involved tournament team.

What negative things? Maybe it takes some one with a strong will, like yourself, to make it change?

It's all too easy to sit back and discuss something, but significantly harder to get involved and make a change for the better. I learnt that the hardway for sure.

When the "league" is controlled by the few major interests in the area and entry fees are HUGE and open virtually only to those interests 'home' teams, what possible influence could an outsider have?

My complete re-drafting of a generalised ruleset (with specifics of each type of play and general rules separated and organised) has become a little too complex.

I started considering putting it into a database to sort and cross-index....

I'm going to have to rethink my approach and drop to a lower tech solution.

I don't know, but that's a similar situation to Steve 'Wadidiz' Morris. He was an expat (not sure if Canadian or American) sat in Sweden, very far away from the NPPL and PSP. He's made and is making a difference to both series...

If you don't try you will never know.

That doesn't suprise me. There is a lot to cover and so many ways for people to try and work around it.

That's a VERY good idea. I know there have been problems before where two rules look to the same thing, but have different penalties. And also where rules look to others that got changed or deleted.

Low tech is definitely good if it covers everything.

I know a lawyer wrote the rules a LONG time ago... and it made sense to him, but confused the hell out of everyone else. Your average player/ref isn't a lawyer...

Why does: IAL - I Am LAWYER!

FIt in so well with the image of the cartoon I Am Weasel?

            Although...

I'd place more lawyers in the I R Baboon category.

That's why I'm trying to generalise the rules and break down the specifics of different formats instead of getting involved locally.

I figure if I can make it work I might have more impact promoting the idea to larger organisations than the insular local ones.
