ok i went and got my 48/3000 filled up this morning and when i got it back it was warm and i looked at the gauge and it said 3000 then when it cooled down it said around 2000 , what the heck is up with this ? could this be the reason i got 300 shots with my mag ? it not getting filled all the way ? should i throw it in the freezer or something before i go to fill it so it isnt as warm so it gets filled more ? or should i make the guy that fills them wait till it cools then fill it up more ? thanks

have them fill it up sl o w e r if they can.
otherwise fill it let it sit then refill it ina few min.
as the gas cools the pressure goes down.

Also, if he has filled a number of tanks ahead of you, the air in his fill tank will have heated up too. That would mean the air you are getting is even hotter so it cools even farther in your tank.Comment

48/3000 thats a small tank, 3-400 shots is about right for a mag.
3000 psi is roughly 10 shots per square inch, plus if you have a Level10 you lose the last 800psi in the tank because the gun won't cycle right with less than that.
"flash fills" are what you get at most paintball fields, and they are going to be hot fills. compressing air makes it heat up, and hot air is "expanded", so when the air cools you lose some psi. not a big deal, unless you don't free air fills...Comment

Shouldn't air in the fill tank be cooling off as its decrompressing?Originally posted by PlazmicAlso, if he has filled a number of tanks ahead of you, the air in his fill tank will have heated up too. Definately extra lube. I keep two bottles at all times. Can't leave home w/o your lubricant.

You might think so, but since it is in a constant state you get friction that heats the air in the fill tank. It is nowhere near the heat generated by compression into your HPA tank, but it is still an increase in temp.Comment

i'd bet money that guy isn't licensed to fill your tank.
$10k fine right there.

Feh. I bought a Scuba tank and I just do my own, now. I get a scuba fill for about $4.50 and it lasts me about 10 - 15 fills on my 88ci.Comment

yea thats what im going to end up doing , i watched him fill my tank and it looks very simple , i asked him how much for all the stuff to do it and the tank was 90 and the fill station 70 so about 150 bucks for the whole setup and it would cost me 4 dollars to fill , so id be saving alot of money in the long run
