CM, Tom was not the og. This place was started by a person named "Andy". AGD jumped at the idea and made a deal. I think Andy got somthing along the lines of an Emag in trade for AO. Not 100% sure though.

You are right about Tom not being the creator, but without Tom, I am sure AO would not be what it is today. I mean, does anyone remember MOG? (Mag Owners Group). Yeahs ago, the owners group idea started with POG, for a long time people tried to make other owners groups that were just like POG, some succeeded, some failed. I think AO would have failed without the backing of AGD. Or atleast it would be a "Automag Owners Group" and not a paintball community.

There are some great people that I have met on AO. I have flown with less than 24 hours notice from Pittsburgh to Detroit to turn around and fly home again in 12 hours just to meet up with people.

Over the years I have met a lot of people playing paintball and it has taken me to many different states, but AO made these events alot more fun.

AO is still a great place, you just have to ignore the stupid posts and be productive in the good posts. I think people have to show a little more pacience with some users and if you do not like someone, ignore then to the best of your abilites. I know I have been guilty of making a few snide comments to some users and I know there are some that I downright hate, but that does not make me want to leave AO and never come back.

There are also many people that I know personally that I do not see eye to eye on some issues, but they are still great people and fun to hang out with.

Not to insult the younger crowd on AO, but the average age of paintball just keeps getting younger. I think this has a lot to do with the clash of ages.

i am one of those who said what happens on ao has no bearing on my life. by saying that i meant that if this forum was to go away, i move on. now having said that, i do appreciate my ao friends and as far as paintball goes, the only times that are more fun than ao days is playing in a tourney. the ao days are an absolute blast. we even have a good time when it's not paintball like the guys at coldstone serenading z-man or the after game meals at chevy's. i, in no way, ever wish lose my ao friendships but if that were to happen, life goes on.

I whole heartedly agree even though I may be your younger age you speak of.

Magcentral was AO's nemisis. I liked that place and its interesting to think what it would be like over there today.

If it were AOG it would be easier to part with. But since its so diverse here its like your second brother in law rather than an annoying little brother. You may not be able to directly relate to the forum but its a community nonetheless.

I have been guilty of saying "its just an internet forum" recently, on more than one occasion, but it has been in response to people whining about some 3 day ban, and how unfair and unjust it is, and then you read stories about them being so desperate to post that they create a second account or whatever.

I mean, 3 days. Its just 3 days off an internet forum. I think thats the context I meant it. You sir dont fall into that catagory at all. Your posts are intelligable and interesting. You spell things correctly, and seem like a nice guy. You make this community better.

Several of my life long goals that have nothing to do with paintball or AO have been reached, primarily because of AO. It wasn't simply the wealth of information here, but a great deal motivation was gained simply by hanging out with a bunch of great guys.

The original AO is still here, you just need to figure out how to sift through the undesired "stuff" floating on the surface, at it's core is where the spirit of AO still resides.

My life really does revolve (and has evolved) around AO. Without it I probably would walk away from paintball and pursue other interests in more depth, not really something I want to do though.

Life would go on without AO it just wouldn't involve paintball for me.

jeez I don't know what I would do without AO, only having been here for the time I have (compared to others) I 've learned alot. Without AO I wouldn't have desired to build a pneu-mag. (Now accepting donations ). I wouldn't have meet Mad_Medic who has practically built one of my mags, and Duck Hunt who is coaching me with my pneu-mag. I love you AO

AO was life for me. The keyword is WAS. I've drifted away since the whole "political" views slammed into the friendy corner (mine included). I will say though that I've met some great friends through AO. In fact if it wasn't for AO I'd probably be a no friend loser, wouldn't know where to go pballin in SoCal, and wouldn't have known much of anything about the game or the Automag.

Like Hitech I've shared my highs and my lows. A point I knew AO was in for a change was when I shared the fact that my sister-in-law had her 2nd son, 3 months early, and he passed away. It was then that I got my first glimpse at how negative AO was heading. I got posts such as "put it in the non-topic" forum and a few similar. I was comforted by those that did show sympathy and sent their thoughts.

The highs have far out weighed the cons but the cons seem to weigh more. If it wasn't for AO I wouldn't have met one local guy in particular that I consider one hell of a friend. For that alone I feel AO has made a huge impact on me.
                            Sorry, I'm old

im just here for the n(o)(o)ds.... err wait wrong board hehe.

freallz though, i knew this board was just more than, "the internet" when i played my 1st Ao day with the now Unbaned norcal crew. Moreso when Norca/Socal happened.

...ever in the continual search of time dilation.

Oh man, I missed that. I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine what that is like. I hope everyone is dealing okay with their loss.
