Is there something I don't know about this paint? $90 a case? Could it just be a pricing error on AV's part? I've never even heard of it before.

i pay 60 a case at my local field...probably not quite the quality, but once i adjussted the little wire nubbin some it was fine -
Its elite grade!
...Maybe it cost that much because of the heavy duty case.

You're paying $20 for the paint. The rest is for the box. That is one hell of a nice box for only $70.
