    <3.

More substantial post in a few.

    Semi-substantial post, as promised:

Excellent. I can't claim to have been here forever, only about 1 3/4 years. However, I have seen a bunch of negatives, as well as a few positives, of course. AO has gained a whole bunch of members, as the PBR and PBN crowd found out about our little hideaway. A few of these members are what I'd expect from my short time here, but a vast majority are not. Nothing we can really do about that except embrace the good and hope that the bad weed themselves out accordingly. It seems as though in the past few weeks some stuff has been shaping up, not in the least aided by some of those members being weeded out and/or cutting down on their posting as well as some very insightful topics brought up by some good members.

As for your b/s/t comment.. that's an effect of a market economy. You have what I want, and I have what I'm willing to pay. You accept, or I move onto a different seller.

And anyway, since I'm in the edit screen and can not view your post without getting un-lazy and opening another window, I will again send my praise and bow out.

      Bravo, Kevin. Bravo.

You know, you've helped me out of situations before ( ), and I've always found you smart, helpful, and just plain cool. I think this post reflects that.

But I gotta say I agree. The old AO was best, and I have no idea why we've come so far from it. I've met good friends on AO, and two boyfriends (one ex, one current). Gibby and TDS, anyone(unless i'm remembering things incorrectly)? I'd like to see that on PBN, or what have you. I've been able to go to Vegas on about three hours of planning, because I knew Miscue could open his home to Target Practice and Myself (and Edweird and his friend!). I can go to Pittsburgh and have friends..automatically.

AO used to be great, and while everyone's getting in a tizzy about how much it sucks now (Can't say I disagree), no one is doing anything to fix it. I try my best to quell the rampant stupidity which sometimes overcomes these boards, but the temptation to become not more than a gimmick "yeah lol shut up" poster is most definately there.

        Oh, and, gimmie that Nelspot.

        Such a sham(e).

Agreed. AO is different than when I first joined. I believe that a lot of changed came from new members. Also, the mods crack down with bans might have started some hard feelings. Good point and I vote for a sticky, atleast untill things start to change.

I am just curious to know, where are these mystical "other" forums that are supposed to be so great? Or as it was put "better than AO is right now". I am not certain that I have seen these other places, nor that they exist.

I have yet to see a forum that is "family" the way this one is. All the others are too large and too generic to ever feel the way this place has. With the changes and uncertainty in the future of paintball, I doubt that it ever will get the same feel again. But even at its worst(which some say has been lately), this forum still is WAY better than any other.

As far as trading goes.....the market will only bear what it will. You can't force people to wait and try to sell something for what its really worth when they want the money they can scavenge out of it NOW. The used paintball market has been really crappy in resale for quite some time. Its a really smart individual who doesn't get caught up in the "flavor of the month club" and waits for the new to wear off. You can pick up superb markers for near nothing, just cause they aren't the cool thing to own at that moment.
The best thing is that there is still a strong core of responsible traders here on the forums. There is also a good system in place for dealing with(identifying) scammers too. This is a great place to buy/sell/trade.

Acutally, I think that the Thorums are rather tight knit, and it doesn't have the stupid and worthless users like this forum does. We're a family, just not your NORMAL family.

                What Nel-Spot?

My only comment is that in order for intelligent conversation to happen someone has to start it. Which is actually a lot harder than it sounds at least IMHO... I honestly cannot think of anything at the moment that is not highly controversial and likely to result in a flamewar. But if you can do it, I say go for it.

The AKA forums on PBN is pretty good. Good info because all the AKA mastertechs are members, Nice guys that don't flame. When I had a problem, one guy stayed on AIM with me for close to 6 hours untill it was fixed.

I've been over on the AKA forums, and I think they're okay. For the most part, the techs are awesome. Hell, Bartman here on AO talked me though a Pandora install on my Excal for like an hour over in AO chat. Bart's a nice guy.

The paintball community is growing, it's our responsibility to point the newer players in the right direction or to at least help them out along the way. Many of the newer players are being influenced by the wrong people and are in the mindset of "KILL KILL KILL! Im gonna light that newbie up!" and they bring their bad additudes and mindsets to the internet forum. Maybe if people started stepping up and helping out the new guys instead of brushing them aside and leaving them to learn things from immature punks that think drive by paintball shootings are cool we might actually change the way ao is going along with the rest of the paintball community

I try to keep things positive as a whole. And I've had great experiences buying from the dealers and getting good info from people on the forum. I generally try to ignore the nonsence.....generally.

Well spoken, and you make some good points. However, I think that AO is suffering a severe leadership vaccume at the moment.

                              Hey:

punkncat- This is primarily directed towards you and it is mainly a clarification to what I was saying in the beginning:

These places do exist I am afraid. They are much smaller than AO is. Some top out at 50-60 members another tops out at 200 something the largest of these is 400 some members.

They are much closer knit and I am not looking to post hyperlinks to them, because I am not looking for them to grow. I am stuburn in that fact and wish to keep them sane.

As far as trading goes.....the market will only bear what it will. To the buy/sell/trade, I do realize that the market has gone to crap. My main point of this, is look at the AGD Dealers. A "CUSTOM" notice quotations Brand New E-Mag by TunaMan was just sold on AO. It took more than one day at a price of 950 USD. To build the same E-Mag new from AGD would cost someone well over 1,500 USD. Easily. E-Mag alone I believe is 1,000 USD + shipping, Kart Body Raw 350 USD + shipping with ULE'ing and RogueNeck, then Annodizing 200 USD + back shipping, then a matching Ultra Light Barrel and Valve, we will toss in for free.

I work in retail mail-order. I see the economy suffering in both wholesale and retail. My only point is the fact that buy/sell/trade has gone to crap. I do not care about my personal AO sales. I do not own anything of value to post on AO anymore.

It was directed towards dealers and individuals.

AO has become a buyers market not a buyers and sellers market. It happens, not angry, just would like to see it become better.
