That wouldn't work. You need something that is readily available, cheap and in plenty of supply in the same condition for everyone. -
Good point Simon
How about a base BKO
they are only like 200 or so

I think it's best to make it cheap and easy for people to join in.Comment

Manike.. you just gave me a brilliant idea...
a buy in.. every one that wants to enter needs to buy * Insert random gun here * from whom ever..
What would be the prize though.. with all the tinkers getting involved all the people with the neat toys are going to be involved in it :)
Having a buy in will also open it up to non-industry people to buy a gun and enter in... thusly spreading the creativity over a wide area of peopleWild Geese - Coney Isand White Fish - ECA

it needs to be set up, not just 80000 people doing it at once. So only "battles" that people actually want to see. A resume would have to be given for an "unknown" gun builder to enter. Like a couple of pics from guns they have done or what not and a commitee(sp) of the "known" builders choose if they are in or not.Let that commitee set up all the battles.
Manike-It's still early days. One thing for sure is that the future is going to be interesting, and we intend to be a BIG part of it.Comment

regarding the buy in: personally i think it would be best if only a few reputable people competed, and it was fimed for everyone to see. or maybe we could have that and then have an open competition for anyone who wants to enter. the prizes for the regulated entry would be maybe cash and a gift certificate to a tool company, and for the open entry it would be maybe just prizes from sponsors here and other places, like GOTM, just a lot bigger.Originally posted by Jackel411Manike.. you just gave me a brilliant idea...

I still like the idea of a merlin extrusion..thats just a block with 2 bore's in it. Basically the gun would end up being totally custom...they could also go with a cocker/merlin look easy or a cyborg electro look, since those 2 guns are made from that extrusion.
But really the scy is the limit inless you want to make a mag.... maybe they coulkd just take 1 tube off totally for that :)EviL-
Oh come Hither my Evil friends. Let us dance upon our MINION of pure EviL apon the sup air ball field. Let us give thanks for this EviL OMEN that the Lord AVATAR has given to us. Let us crawl apon this wicked earth, converting the people to our HEATHEN ways, let us PIMP them with our SCION. Let us be faithfull till Judgement day, when EviL shall finally RULE THE WORLD.

Hummm, I don't think it's actually going to be televised....
Frankly there is nothing real exciting about watching chips flying off the mill.

Well I'd buy a DVD.
As for watching chips fly off a mill. Tons of people seem to enjoy watching sparks fly off some sheet metal on these car shows.Comment

if it came out on DVD, i would buy it. i never really watch TV, but there must be a science/technology channel that would be willing to have the contest also. having this on would make me watch TVOriginally posted by lukeHummm, I don't think it's actually going to be televised....

. and it cant really hurt to try, can it? just propose the idea to a few stations, if they say no, you could make a DVD. we already have numerous DVDs of tournaments and tech videos, why cant we make one of a competition like this? heck, im sure if you propose the idea to a company like deadbox media they would be happy to film it.
