if it were between a series 5 and a custom mag.. i would say that both have their own little quirks. I am trying to make the same decision as you.. exept that I dont really have the money for either right now. you would probably be happy with either one, just as long as you give yourself the time to get to know how to maintain them. a cocker can seem daunting until you learn the pnuematics and timing. since I am leaning towards another mag for my next purchase.. i will recommend the mag.
errr.. $600 Mag vs $499 Cocker

yep.Originally posted by ben-afficialthe guy asked about a mag or cocker....and half the people here are trying to sale him somethin he didnt ask about
try to get your hands on guns similiar if not exactly what you're looking into...
see if you can try them out...
and don't compare a lvl 7 classic mag to a ult ule rtp...there is virtually no similarity other than size...weight...balance.....trigger pull...severely different
however(and ill probably get strung up for this one)...most hinge cockers are relatively similiar in weight...feel... trigger...etc
i tried, but never got into the feel or trigger on autocockers...
the ult is like butter though

i'm not sure if anyones said this yet...
But if you got 600 bucks, why not shell out 39 more and buy one of those new 05 superstocks. They look like they have E2's too! I think that's the best way to go if you're looking for a gun in that price range.Comment

I dont know if it is better, it really comes down to personal preference. The series 5 comes with a pretty decent barrel.. you wouldnt necessarily have to upgrade right away. it also comes with a locking feedneck. either way.. wouldnt you have to also add a barrel to the mag? so imo you are still paying less. but the slight difference in price wont matter if you later are kicking yourself for not buying the mag. so thing about which one you will enjoy shooting with more.Originally posted by MadPSIencethe CCM looks tempting.. but.. is the S-5 really better than the mag? I mean S-5 is 390 .. add bottomlines + good barrel + clamping feedneck and the prices are EQUAL.Comment

I own both...
I love my SV and mag both for different reason's. My mag is very small(no pics yet but soon) and light. My SV is very accurate and cosistent. How ever if your going bang for the buck...I know a place where you can pick up a SV brand new for less then $350 but that's with out drop and asa.
I've spent a good chunk of money on my mag and right now I'm trying to get it running. The Xvalve is giving me fits. I think the on/off is a little stiff.
When it comes down to it...go with what you feel more comfortable with. For me I can shoot both...so I do.(not at the same time)
