Air compresser to fill a tank?

My parents just rented an air compressor to use with a nail gun and while it was here i was wondering if you could fill nitro tanks with them. I have a 68 4500 nitro duck tuff skin if that makes a difference. Has anyone done this? LMK before they return it!!

btw: the air compressor is a dewalt emglo.

    No

That compressor might put out 180psi if you are lucky. No where near the pressure to fill an HPA tank.

it probably wont. Most household compressors only have a max output of between 300 to 500 psi. So probably not. But if you have a low pressure gun, and the comp can match it, hook it strait to your tank and just run with the comp still hooked on the tank. You cant do much but dryfire or shoot at one thing though.

No matter what the pressure the gun can be run at, you are not likely to get it out of a house hold compressor.

Sure,it'll put a couple hundred PSI in it.

It DOES run on LP, so you'll get like 2-3 shots off that compressor fill, gonna be a short game tho. :)

                I have a interesting link.

Basiclly they make compressor that can fill your tank. I'm not really sure how but its marketed so that you can fill your tanks. I don't know how so can someone explain this. You know what I'll list my questions.

                1. How much does this cost?
                2. IS it huge/heavy?
                3. Can it really do what it says?
                4. What are these "mega boosters" fill me in here.

Thx IN advance. And No household compressor besides these [???] could do it.

                Give links plz.
I'll have to take it out to dinner and a movie first. Will it go see AVP? - Halliday On "Will you date my valve?"

Seen them at a few trade shows so this is what I recall:

                  1) They started at around $1000-$1100 and went up to around $3K.
                  2) Bigger than your avergae home job but managable and generally portable enough.
                  3) Yea, it seemed to do quite well. The more expensive ones went to 4500k fast enough to
do direct bottle fills. The smaller ones were better suited to keep a bulk tank topped off.
                  4) Mega Boosters take lower pressure but higher volume air and by using differentially sized
pistons (mechanical advantage) are able to create High Pressures but at lower volumes.
                  Typically in the $1000-$1500 range.

but if you buy a scuba tank then you will need to fill it.

Yes, but a lot of dive shops will fill it for you and since the suba tanks are larger, you can get multiple fills from one scuba tank fill.

I'm after a cheap way of filling a tank to 4500psi....

I live miles away from a dive shop or my "local" painball shop (45 minutes driving @ 80mph )

I'm looking for a very high pressure hand held compression system...

                          anyone want to design one?

                          *EDIT*

This is of course stating that I DON'T have $1500+ to spend on a filling machine!
something in the realms of $200 though isn't a bad buy... especially on the fuel cost here in the UK

yes. a co-worker of mine bought a low pressure Crossfire 68/4500 tank yesterday at NPPL Super 7 HB and it works great. The velocity is set to 280fps +/- 3. Tank output is around 450psi.

Nuvair makes portable compressors. I saw them yesterday at HB.
