    Santa Clara Paintball

Who here has played there? From what I have read people seem to have a negative feeling towards that field and I just wanted to get AO's opinion on it. Its really close to my house, and would save me the hour plus drive i would normally have to do to play.

The negatives I have heard is there is a lot of cheating, and the ref's "suck"

And are they really against all Zap paint?

The don't like ZAP because it stains. The refs always seemed to do a decent job, and they certainly hustled to get the games going, which is rare at most fields. However, the fields get so packed its ridiculous.

        i play there kinda often.
they dont allow zap. they used to have a sign that said no canadian paint, but draxxus is, so i think they took down the sign. draxxus is allowed.
the refs dont do much in the way of paint checks, but every once in a while there will be a ref that does. they are very strict on the barrel plug and mask rules.
call them ahead of time about paint prices, because they change depending on their prices from their supplier.
there is 4 feilds; 2 airball, 1 hyperball, and one crate field.
there are 3 levels of play you can play in. no playing begginer if u have your own stuff.
chrono limit is 275 or 270. i dont remember.
there is all day air for 10 or 15 bux. dont remember that either.
sometimes you might have to share a bunker with 2 or 3 people. for me i have never had more than 3, and that was only in like 2 games.

even if you have the chance to put your stuff on their tables, i wouldn't recomend it. i'd keep it in the car.
i was there one time with my brother and some friends, and they were at our table talking to 2 kids, one of wich looked like a 10 yr old snoop dogg, and they were answering the 2 kids questions as to when we would be leaving our stuff unattended type syuff. like when we would be playing, or when we would go to the bathroom, and where the bathroom was and that stuff. i told my brother right there infront of those 2 stranger kids that they were gonna try to steal our stuff if we left it unattended. the two kids looked pissed and left.
so i have reason to believe that it would be bad to leave your stuff around.

The refs there can be pretty much a toss up. The ones I've encountered when I go there solo have been pretty decent. There is some preferential treatment toward the " tourny" players. Though it is more understandable if the field sponsored team. 4.5k fills are really nice. As for the whole Zap thing; The thing I've noticed about Zap paint is that the stuff has a tendancy to solidify and cake up when it dries. It doesn't stain though. It's a pain to clean up no doubt. I have heard rumours that Zap and the field owner had a falling out because Zap had been the supplier of paint to the field when it first opened.

I played there quite a few times, I live only like 15 mins from there. It's not the best field I've been to, I kind of hate the environment.

The people there are all cocky 13 year olds with expensive gear their parents bought them. Some of the older players are very immature as well. This one kid from my school was wearing jeans, and this guy, about 18, told him that he sucked b/c he had jeans and to go play for the other team. The air guy flash fills tanks like a mother . So and so, the people there are no fun, everyone gets pissed off at each other. The field prioritizes their sponsored team, they give them the "best" field for them to use, and basically only people who dare to play with them actually get to play on that field.

BUT it's an ok field, I haven't gone there for the longest time though.

I do know the AO sig rules, I just want a free sig pic, that's all!

Only problem I have with SCP is their small fields. It goes up to 20v20 some days on a FIVE man field. Overall refs are great, game rotations are quick, staging area very close by, saftey is enforced, and lots of good ballers. Yeah there are jerks and stupid little kids, what field doesnt have them.

                  quikkk and i win.

despite the drawbacks, i still like the field. just get your paint elsewhere where its cheaper.
for a half day its 12 bux admission.
and they are open on friday nights; with one field open and lit up with lots of lights.
i havent been to the website in a while, but i remember something about women play free on friday nights or something...

Carbon I haven't played at tag since it was in scotts valley/santa cruz area, which I think was back in 97-99ish. I really like TAG's morals and thats why I want to start playing there again. I am tired of constant cheating and ref's not caring, honestly the game isn't as much fun when that is constantly around me (that was the case 2 weeks ago when I played at paintball jungle, saw some guy get hit in his hand, i looked at him and said"your hit" he looks at me and goes "nope" and wipes and keeps playing)

I wanted to play there this weekend but I won't have time, and I'm still sick. Its looking like next sunday I will be out to play at tag. I play with a custom annoed freestyle that really stands apart from your typical anno's, definatly introduce yourself to me because I always love to meet new people in the area.

Only thing I have to complain about is the massive amounts of players you get in the afternoon sessions and the relatively high prices. Of course, it's the closest field to me... If I want to travel to the next best field, I'd end up making up the price in gas money. Refs are alright, though they are biased towards more experienced looking players [I.E. they'll pick teams according to who's wearing the most Dye gear ]. Zap isn't allowed, as others have mentioned. I have yet to see anyone get caught for using it though.
