proto matrix and DM series

proto matrix is a fairly new gun. proto is a branch of dye, and is the "lower end" of what they sell. A proto matrix is basically a no frills dm4/5. no on-off, no chips, no ultralite barrel, no adjustable feedneck, etc. dye has their line of matrix also, the dm4/5 series. they include all of the mentioned goodies i said before but also at a price. some people likee the proto, some like the dm5. you are basically paying for looks, drop in chip upgrades, and external upgrades. the inner working of the guns are almost identical.my feedback

I personally concider an upped proto a nicer marker than a Dm5 (lighter, more efficent, ect), of course, DM owners will argue otherwise. Honestly, shooting the 2, not a real difference, but, the proto is signifigantly smaller/lighter than any DM

Proto is 2 ounces lighter than the DM5 and 4 ounces lighter than the DM4. Has no on/off, micro is soldered onto the board, crappy feed neck, and a proto barrel which is the same as the 1 piece ultralight (the only difference is external milling, or so I hear.).

its bascially a looks thing. the on-off is not an issue. you cannot upgrade chips for protos, yo need a new board or flash it. i would def recommend an adjustable feedneck and a decent barrel.my feedback

Proto is a simplified DM4.
I like it, I prefer it over a DM4.
They removed the on/off, moved the LPR to the front, cut off some weight in the back, put a simpler feedneck on, and put a board w/o the chip system, as well as a 1 piece eye cover.
Took away a lot of the machining they had to do and made it much simpler. My Feedback

Anyone else think the proto is drop dead...UGLY??? i don't like the looks, but that's just me. I don't like the DM5 either, i think that the DM4 is the best looking. Why'd they cut off that part that protrudes where the barrel goes into the gun??? It looked pretty dam cool to me

Uh that thing was an on/off, they took it off to save weight and money...My Feedback

Actually that question came up a lot when that chart was released and it turns out that it was incorrect.Originally posted by Codekevin0403the 2-piece comes on the proto?
oh i thought it was the 1-piece...stupid me
Don't quote me on the barrel info but last I heard they were coming with one piece 12' barrels as stated by the people at Proto in and e-mail which I read over at PBN.
