I think what pisses people off on PB forums is when you tell them to work out if they think they really need to shave a couple of ounces off their marker set-ups.

Personaly I think people worry WAY too much about those couple of ounces and they should try to get a bit stronger if they're having trouble moving their gun around.

Of course I can also see their point as well, why not make it as light as possible but you run into ignorance when people say X gun sucks because it weighs 2 oz more that some other gun.

That's because it's a great sport partly because of the fact anyone can play it. People who stink at everything else could pick up a gun and do halfway decent...I don't know many sports that are like that...

Maybe... but I think its also more of a "non-traditional" sport, and this may lead to more people playing who aren't neccessarily in the condition required for other sports.

/still 5-10 lbs from being able to play water polo well

What about cardio exercises? Does any of you guys run for endurance or stamina? I can say that is what I do the most, as well as a lot of sprinting. I have a 55 lb bar here at my house and I lift when ever I watch TV, not a lot of weight but more then a gun setup, or at least mine.

Because it is an affront to their lifestyle; they have to take personal responsibility for their actions and say, "yeah, I am doing things in my life that are wrong..." A lot of times these things that are wrong are areas that make up their character and identity, so egos are bruised/sore/etc. It takes hard work, to stop in your tracks and do something totally different. Much easier to just pretend nothing is wrong and keep on the same track. Of course, they may never improve that way, but whatever; their lack of dicsipline in training makes you superior on the paintball field anyway. Just think, the more people like that in life, the more chances you have to look better

Some people have the discipline to suck it up and change things right away; other's have been babied by mommy so much that they don't even know the first thing about how to make their own decisions. I'm guessing most people (including me) lie somewhere in between, but I have noticed many of my peers leaning toward the later as of late. Quite sad actually.

Yeah, i run for endurance and strength. I can do about 3-miles in just over 15 minutes. I do a lot more sprinting than endurance running though; just don't have the time to do those 8-10 mile runs anymore. When the weather get's warmer I try to do some mountain biking too.

If you want to get in shape you must het this book

If you are serious about getting in shape, either building muscle or losing weight. Go to www.musclenow.com This program laysout exactly what to eat, when and how to work out.
It is rediculous how good it works. I have only been on this program for 7 weeks and have gained an inch around the arms and almost two inches in the chest.
It takes dedication but it is well worth it. Especially with summer coming up and having a chance to impress the babes at the paintball field....LOL
Oh yeah, if you get the book tell him kyle young sent you.

no, but being overweight enough that it threatens ones health is. mainly because they both threaten ones health.

It is a matter of opinion. I personally (i.e. opinion) think a lot of people who "work out" and are "in shape" have a serious superiority complex. Many think that everyone should do the same. And many think that it's OK to tell complete strangers that they need to go the same.

Maybe it's rationalization for spending so much time on something that could have been better spent. But then again, that's just my opinion.

yes, it is OK for you to say that. we live in America. remember kids, don't let the politically correct parade fool you, the right to free speech is protected by the constitution, the right to not be offended is not.

in other news, i happen to have a very light setup. ule/xvalve/custom self milled rail. so i don't get anyone telling me to lift weights because i don't complain. then again i never complained about the weight of my VM-68 Magnum when i played with that either. i believe that working out is a good way to improve your skills in paintball, as well as upping your chances of surviving the game longer. i'm not one of the workout freak/jock types even though i used to wrestle once upon a time. but i do know that just eating better will help you feel better, i lost ten pounds of fat just by giving up pop (soda). no excercise, no other dietary changes, just no pop (soda). not only did i lose weight but i felt 5 times better. and i know it was fat that i lost because my body fat percentage went from 12.88% @ 152lbs to 10.35% @ 145lbs.

summary: i don't get told to lift weights and i don't tell others to lift weights. i think that working to be athletic for the sake of paintball is a good thing.

                          this is sorta related:
i really like the radio ads i'm hearing now, i forget what committee is runnung these, probably community health but their tagline is, "Eat Better and Move More". simple.

No matter the sport, in order to compete with the best, you need to be in your best shape possible (mentally, physically, skill-wise).

One could say that almost anyone can play almost any sport, it's just those that have the desire to be the best that rise to the top.

As for the debate as to whether or not you should be able to tell someone what you think of their flaws...it begs the question: "who determines what a flaw is?"

There is a lot of truth in this. Think of it as attribute scores on a scale of 1-10 you have several different attributes

Speed (running), trigger speed, ability to aim, ability to tuck in cover, etc. The problem is, noone knowns what skills have more weight than the others... at least not decisevly, ideally you have the highest you can in all, in case you need them.
