    Almost CO2 disaster this weekend...

Was ref'ing down at the field this weekend & had a player come up to me with his M98. It wasn't firing at all, even though the CO2 tank had just been filled & attached properly. So, just in case, I went to remove the bottle from the marker & quickly noticed that the bottle was spinning, but the valve was not.....if I had kept turning, that bottle would have blown right out of my hands & into our trailer. Good thing I was paying attention.

the newere regs are desighned to let air blow out ebfore it WOULD explode ot shoot.

ive been noticing this happening MROE and more with both nitro tanks and co2

somones going to get hurt..again i know it.

just gotta keep an eye out and have respect for your gear. they need stronger loc tite or soemthing on the tanks...

certain tanks like the java ones and the budget nitro tanks ive noticed are HORRIBLY worse than say a 68/45 carbon tank.

btw ive bought tanks from stores that were leaking from the top NEW..arent they tested

ive also noticed some tanks have the qd or qc or whatever stickers and some dont...

            Two words: On/Off.

That way, you won't have that pressure in the line pressing up against the reg when you're unscrewing your tank in the first place.

and loctite is not the answer, you are not suposed to loctite the reg for thisvery reason, it can clog the blow off holes.

with nitro tanks, it is ok to hand tighten your bottle, and it is becomming a necessity with the new TSA regulations, just dont loctite the threads

you should get an on/off. a kid where i play had a remote blow up and it hit him and he had a huge cut on his leg close to his junk.

SAME HERE I just got my air america 68/45 hydro'ed and filled I come home and look at it the next day it goes from 4500psi to 3000psi so Im like maybee it wasnt filled right I look again the next day 1700psi. At my local field I saw a renter with an Impy all of a sudden his tank starts spewing I was like crap.... So I rush over there to have them turn it off my cousin decides he should unscrew the tank what a retarded after he unscrewed it a ref came over and went to touch it I had to tell him not to... Its said at my local feild I make more calls then the refs, we have like 18 refs too!

Btw you cant on/off a air america tank can you?

Yep. There is a bleed hole about 3-4 rings down the pin valve. if you had made it that far, it would a been hissin.

and going back to loctite, my training (3 years ago--Paintball Training Institute--PTI) told me that putting red loctite on 2 rings BELOW the blow valve is what to do. However, that trend seems to have changed as i have gotten out of paintball. I still go by that rule, but it may be outdated.

Anyone with creds from the industry (PTI, APL, NPPL, etc) want to tell me the current rulings?
