I havent had a prob w/ the stock reg., but he said he is getting drop off. I use my Ion for a backup or a buddy gun, so I will likely keep it stock except for a unimount and a barrel. Yesterday I took the trigger magnet out and burned it w/ a lighter several times for a couple seconds each time and lightened the trigger a lot. I know thats kinda OT, but.

Maybe he just needs to disassemble, clean, and lube his reg.

Agreed. It's a good design (similar to the Sidewinder/WGP regs). SP just typicly slabs 'em with so much grease that it slows the piston down.

This is what JimmyBeam is talking about with the 2-liter and cover:

I used my stock reg for a while and found I liked the stickiness of the rubber cover, so I put it on the 2-liter (plus the fact that it looks better).

The ION stock reg from my testing and what I have encountered/heard is much like there markers, inconsistent quality control. The ION reg I tested did pretty good, it did have a few oddities ie it spiked slightly higher than the initial pressure but so did the two bob long regulators I tested. I have heard others say their ion reg was horrible, so who knows. Honestly get a 2liter, CP, or any Palmer regulator. The Palmers perform very well ie only the 2liter beats the fatty in the testing I have performed.

          definatly true.

the stock reg is a great reg. it like every other new reg needs a break in time.
you might want to unscrew the reg and make sure there isnt a buildup of grease where the reg screws in(filter screen). I could be effecting your flow.

but if you must replace the reg. I also would go with the 2 liter. best reg around.

also take the reg off and inspect the filter screen in the ASA. It could have grease or something in it. That would save you a ton of money. Id clean it and put it back together and check my internal lines to make sure no grease has clogged them too. Also, make sure you only use shocker lube or Dow33 on the bolt and other orings. Maybe a sticky bolt oring could cause shootdown too.
