Thats really bad advice dude. If you use a big bore barrel with small calibur paintballs the balls could "bounce" or "wobble" in the barrel and break. Not only wcan that cause breaks but you loose some efficiency andvelocity will need to be turned up more to make up the speed you lost by using small bore paint in a big bore barrel thus loosing more efficiency.

Meh, ok.
I use a .693 for everything I shoot. I have no problems with it.
The only marker I suggest using match bore for is a cocker and that is so the paint won't roll out the barrel.
...the rest of you guys can do what you want....I already wasted money on my "match bore barrel system".Comment

remember though that the barrel is smother, and the paintballs are more round today. the musket rounds had flat spots all over them. i havent done the research, but i believe that paint to bore matching is helpful, but not enough to be worth the money. i would rather spend $100 on a large bored stiffi one-piece than $200 on a freak kit. as a matter of fact, unless my opinion on the matter drastically changes in the next couple of months, i'm planning on getting a stiffi .691 bore instead of the evil pipe kit, which i was previously looking at.Originally posted by mag88888punkncat: your advice resembles a 17th or 18th century musket..........you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

Punkncat - you dont need a barrel system to get a good paint to bore match. All you need is a barrel and the right size paint.Comment

That's true but if you can't pick the paint size (field only paint) then it's a good idea to be able to match your barrel to the paint you have to use.
I like to use an insert slightly too large (using the paint to barrel test Tom posted). That way I reduce the amount of barrel breaks while not completely destroying my efficiency."Relax. Don't worry. Have a Home Brew."

I dont use any of my local fields paint because there always seems to be somethin wrong with it. I see your point though.Comment

paint to bore matching is the most ovverrated thing in paintball. just use a big bore barrel, less chance for breaks, and more accuracy. look, balls will fly down a pvc pipe just fine, ask manike, and he will tell you. aslong as there arent any burrs or any thing on the barrel, the ball will be fine. all the barrel in paintball is is an excelerator, it really has little to no effect on the ball, except getting it up to speed.
