AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Anyone else wondering about the pods? I don't see anything but the sydarms
This was the second time I've seen that picture, and the first thing I noticed was he was carrying the pods, but didn't have a gun that could make easy use of them. Weird
Go get the D-Day 2003 video if you want to see what happened. He was the Allied General and said something along the lines of he wouldn't make his guys do anything he wouldn't do first. So he took the first landing craft alone (usually 20 or so guys take it in) armed with nothing but his Sydarms. He makes it a little ways then hunkers down to reload them. Was pretty funny.
I'd personally hate to carry 24x 10 round tubes when 2x 140 round pods would be alot simpler.
2x 140 pods = 280 rounds = Full day of play with a pair of sydarms if you have enough 12g's to keep it going. He'd need at most 14x 12g's to fire that much paint (280 / 20 = 14), you can usually get at least 24 shots off if you're firing slowly, so that's easily 3 full reloads. Its easy to fire slowly if you're dual wielding like Tom is in the pic.
actually he used that pack only a little bit. He used a larger one later in the day. He filled one pod up with paint, another with paint and some 12 grams. The later he started handing out pods to people that needed them.

The thing is, how do you fill one gun with a large pod? Let alone 2, it would take forever. I know it did with my Phantom, thats why I bought a 10 round pack.
"As General of the Allied Forces at this D-Day game I was first off the landing craft. The pistols didn't do much good against the 800 Germans on the other side but it was a great shot."

Passing them out does make more sense.
Simple logistics...
Sydarm holds 8 rounds. If you're filling from 10 round tubes, you either fill them only with 8 rounds or you end up handling two tubes to fill the sydarm 100% as you'll have 2 rounds left over from the first fill, 4 from the next, etc. Carrying only 8 rounds in each tube makes a lot of noise when you run as all the balls go up and down in all the tubes, speaking from personal experience.
First fill from 10 rounder leaves you with 2 rounds in the tube, you either dump them or you save them.
Filling from a large pod... Lock spring carrier back, dump 8 rounds into the palm of your hand, cup hand around feed port until all rounds fall in, release spring.
For me, filling a single large pod was less time consuming them filling a bunch of 10 rounders. And if you have more then one pod, you can always pass it off to someone who where a 10 rounder wont go very far if your buddy is supplying suppresive fire for you to run in under.
