E Mag reliability ???

I would say it's a 9.5/10.

As with ANY gun, there's always margin for error or malfunction. AGD kept it about as simple as possible with the E-Mag so that rarely happens. I would say it's MUCH more reliable than any other electro simply because it's an electro and mechanical marker. If your battery dies, switch to manual mode and you're ready to go. As long as you maintain the gun properly (with a mag, it's basically just oiling it.) it should last a VERY long time.

i bought a new emag, and it has worked great on the field, not one problem. i have had problems off the field when i was tweaking it and setting it up to my liking. i also did a few stupid things(trying to hammer out the trigger pin the wrong way) and had toget a longer screw to hold the thing together because i stripped some of the threads. alyways, i feel that it has performed miraculously for what it has already been through, and i've only played two days of paintball so far(3rd day tomorrow). if any of the self-induced problems happened on either of my previous markers, they would have been scrap, and i would have had serious lack of fun trying to deal with the quick fixes they would require. basicly, if you dont do stupid stuff with it, it should last you a long time with almost no hassles.

Over about the 6 months I have had my used Emag I have had to really only adjust the carrier a few times along with lubing it every weekend, which doesnt take long, and if not done only results in a small leak that can still be played with. And for as old as mine is when I got it, I am very pleased. As far as a difference from Tac/RT, yes I would say it is worth it. If you want to do some tournies, higher end play, or just have a gun that wont screw up in the woods and can lay some paint in the woods then this is definately worth it. Would reccomend getting a used one though because the value is too good with the reliability their parts.

You might want to look into simply doing the pneumag modification yourself. It costs about $100 or so, and gives you a pneumatically operated trigger, which can be as fast as electros (without bounce/ramping/etc)

MAGS have one very serious problem. They take 10 or 15 Cases of paint to properly break in, in my opinion. The problems that you read about and see usually stem from break-in problems.
Example, the LVL10 o-ring. You will be go through adjusting 3 o-rings and then you will not touch the thing again for six months, for me 25 cases of paint. I have an e-mag that I have over 500,000 cycle on it and all you do is gas it up and go, every weekend, for years.

I've been using mine for over 4 yrs. I only had one problem on the field ever, and I was the one that caused it. I put a new sear in and forgot to loctite the plunger. It came loose and wouldn't allow the gun to fire in any mode. I got bunkered, unable to defend myself.

The emag has been so reliable and easy to maintain its not even in the same category as other markers. I have watched all my friends go through the various markers from matrix's, impulses, timmys, shockers, e-cockers, etc, and all have have minor glitches that caused the guns to go down and prevent their use on the field on more than one occasion. My emag always functioned and at the end of the day, it was the easiest to clean and prep for the next day of play. I put less maintenance into my marker to keep it running as well.

I can't say enough.

OK -- then lets talk about wear and tear.... If I used the E Mag as a hose. Always ripping 18+ bps, would I see any parts get chewed up over time. The one major issue I have with the E Gripped A5 is that the E Grip armature pin, sear and bolt would get damaged in about 5 to 10 cases of paint. Then a rebuild would have to be performed. Sometimes, it happens much less than that amount of paint. I know we're comparing apples to oranges, but this was my history with the E Grip. I'd like to know in detail what to look out for in terms of high ROF and its affect on the E Mag, if any.

I shot ~50 cases of paint through my emag before I had to change anything. Then it was only the sear and it was on the gun when I bought it used, so who knows how many shots it really had on it. I did have to change the bolt spring on the level 10 after about 35 cases plus who knows how many dry fire shots. The bolt spring has always been a consumable item on mags since the beginning. They are cheap and easy to replace though. The other thing I had to replace was the bolt bumper, which is also a consumable.

For the most part mags have no parts that wear against each other. The valve parts move on urethane o-rings which are really tough and resistent to wear. The only contact point is the bolt and sear. The sear is hardened but will eventually wear out. The bolt will wear out too sometime but I don't know when that is.

The emag was designed for longevity like every other mag before it.

Emag is a great marker. I'd give it 9 out of 10. Upgrading it to the max it still lacks just a little compaired to the new stuff out there. It will never be the fastest or the lightest, reliablity it is one of the best.

Overtime you would see abnormal solenoid wear due to overheating - if you managed to sustain 18+BPS. However the e-mag does not have cheater modes on it I highly doubt anyone will sustain that on any marker set in a true semi-only mode. The E-mag, properly tuned, can be as quick as any other marker, but except for a very select few that is not 15+ BPS contrary to what we tell ourselves

My Emag was a built like a rock. I bought it used and it had a very old SN and it still functioned awesome. I guess I didn't have to go through the breaking in issues as someone else did it for me.

My only complaint and its with all mags is that they are gas hogs. Other than that, A+ quality.

I now shoot a Viking and its the same A+ quality, but I'm now able to shoot 1700+ balls with my tank filled to 4k.
