Just keep a look out for trixes with good boards in them. Tadao 4.0 is what I have. But tadao 5.0 is out now. You should check at the matrix FAQ section on pbn.

Yes, proto's are the cheaper version of the DM line

Proto is a division of Dye, basically the cheaper variant of it. Same company, yes it is a copy, but it is a copy by the same company - kinda like Pontiac / Olds vehicles.

            Proto=Dye's Protoje {sp}

They are nice markers and you could pick one up for around 700-800 depinding if its used no new in the box.

The PM5 {proto matrix 5} is almost a copy of the Dm4 its a little smaller. It doesnt shoot as fast but honestly can you shoot like 17bps? It some what accurate if you got a good barrel I don't remember what it comes with stock. Maybe a proto barrel or a Dye ultralight.
Thats all i really know. I've on tested it. Hope it helps.

Well, if you don't get a Proto then I'd suggest the NYX if you can find it for a good price. If you don't get the ones mentioned before look for these in a trix...

              -Tadao board or Tadao chip
              -ACE (eyes)
              -Upgraded bolt kit
-Well taken care of with minimal wear

DM3's and older trixes go for pretty cheap. Find like an NYX or Toxic trix. You can find slightly upgraded dm3's for around $500-600 used.

the only Difference between a DM3 and a DMC is a little weight and about $1,000,000 in hype advertising. Not to mention older matrix's have been found to actually shoot a little smoother.

                    Older Matrix

I've had quite a few markers and have to say that out of the box the matrix is one of the fastest semis around. Sure you can upgrade a Impulse, Shocker, or other high end electro to do better but as far as stock goes, I think Matrix all the way. Even a 2k3, 2k2, or 2k1, as long as you get the gun20 chip. I've seen these go for as low as $250 on ebay.

I went from a DM4 to a Proto. Really do not need all the bells and whistles. It is lighter and more efficient. I get 10 pods and a Halo out of a 45/70 fill. You can not go wrong with the Proto. The stock barrel is o.k. but who really uses the stock barrel anyway.

Get the board re-flashed and a clamping feed neck and you will not need to do anything but the normal maintenance.

i prefer the proto over my teammates dm5 (i do not currently own a trix, so, i am preety impartial) pick one up if you want a trix

ok that is sheer BS. you do not get 10 pods out of that fill. you get 5 maybe 6 and a halo.

Im sorry man i get way more than 5-6 pods with my proto. I have an olive proto, with the new hybrid back plug top hat mod. It shoots ropes, havent had a problem with it yet.

Props to echo419 for the sig
