    Replacement battery for the eMag

I have a replacement idea for the eMag battery. It would be 5 ozs, last longer on a charge than the original battery (850 va 650 mah) and is up to the current draw of the emag solenoid (capable of 6 amps, the eMag draws 3). Drum roll....

It would be two PQ35S-850 batteries from here wired in series.

You would need a new charger/system. Anyone want to try and build one?

Do you know how much the eMag battery weighs? This would save more weight that the xValve. How many people thought the weight savings was worth it then?

Going from my X-valve to a classic was quite a difference. Don't they have volt regulators or something like that? If there was a way to hook it up to a regular wall outlet and have it regulate down to get a charge but not blow a battery then you'd be in business. Do I make sense or am I just rambling again? Or is that your question and I just repeated it?

Would they both fit in the battery pack? Then all you'd have to do is wire it all.

It would require a properly built charging circut. I'm not sure at the moment exactly what that would require. However, they do sell over charge protectors.

Yes. Together they would be about 0.8 x 1.5 x 2.7 inches, plus wiring...

I don't know what the eMag battery actually weights. But it feels like about pound. It's 14 AAA cells. Someone weight 14 AAA nimh cells and tell us what they weight.

you can make a basic charger very easily and cheaply. All you need is the correct size resistor, and probably a diode. And one of those big powers supply plugs that plug into the wall.

Not for these batteries. You would end up with a fire doing that.

Custom battery packs are easy to make, and chargers are easy to come up with. My friend / boss Stuart Cody is as good as it gets at this stuff:
