Just picked up a Tippmann SL-68 II

Never really played pump all that much, but I have gotten more interested in the past few weeks. I just bought a used sl 68 from ebay for 49 bucks. Im looking forward to playing w/ it. All I need now is a 42rd hopper, and maybe a 3 oz tank. I dunno, maybe I will just use cartridges cause I have a cartridge adpater. I dont know about 15 shots per cartridge, I dont want to be switching out a lot during the game. What do you guys think? I dont think I will go through more than a hopper in a game. But one hopper is like 3 cartridges, so will it be worth it. I know it will be much more lightweight and easier to move w/. Thats why I got it.

    Looking forward to playing pump.

If you have never played pump, just toss your current loader on there, buy yourself a 7 or 9 oz tank and go have fun.

lol, a halo B on a sl 68. J/k. I think I have a gravity loader somewhere around here. Thanks. I really wanted a phantom, but I dont have all that much money, plus if I dont like playing pump, then I dont have to turn around and sell it quickly. Im sure I will like it though. Im looking for the challenge mainly.

      Thanks MM

I agree. Get a 7 or 9 oz Co2 tank. On the SL 68's it makes a nice shoulder stock. If you want a 45 round box send me a pm. I have one you can have.

cool guys, thanks. Im looking forward to it. Should be here by monday or so. Is there a difference in length between the 7 and 9 oz? or are they just different diameters? I think this is going to save me some money. I have a year pass to this indoor field and its great competition, and I do enjoy playing aggresive games w/ fast guns, but w/ a baby due in about 4 months, after my year pass is up, I will prolly just be going to the field w/ a few hundred balls, and one tank fill. Dont get me wrong though, I will still be aggressive. .

Sent ya a PM vonort. I appreciate that, you are a great guy. Any little bit helps. I also just bought my brother a gun for his graduation gift. I think he will really like it. See, paintball is no ending. . Its just the beggining for some, and thats what counts right?

I believe that all SL II's have the anti-doublecocking device & autotrigger.

Yak. The 7 is a little shorter than the 9. They are the same diameter. Congrats on the new one on the way. And no problem on the hopper man. I have a couple of them laying around. Have fun with the pump gun.

Do SL-68's use there own threading or are the threaded like a 98?

They aren't threaded. They're kinda like a Blazer in that the "threading" part of the barrel is smooth and the breach is tightened down with a locking screw.

Actually, I have a rico on my SL-68 II w/ a crossfire 68/4.5K. And when people ask me why I have that and not a gravity feed, I freak them out by saying that I can shoot sofast with it that I need the motorized loader. The look on their face is priceless.

I went around to 7 stores in my area and couldn't find a new barrel. The best suggestion I got was to get one if I have access to a mill or a lathe, and shave off the threads. The cocker tech at my regular store that I go to and I were joking that maybe I should go and get a kit for it. You want to talk about messign with a head and getting an odd look. Imagine me on the field with the SL 68, rico hopper, 68/4.5K tank and a barrel kit to boot. We're talkin' one pimped out pump.

BTW Yak, welcome to the world of pumps, I think you'll enjoy the change.

thanks guys. Studawgie. Check your Pms. .

About the barrels. I know that countypaintball has them in 12" in for 40 bucks. I will stick w/ the stock barrel for now I guess. I was looking at those 3.5 oz tanks from WWA, and I may get one of those if I cant get a 7 oz from my local field. I think the 9 may be a little bit too long for me. Im used to a unimount and 68ci crossfires on my other guns. I will try both a 9 and 7 first before buying the WWA tank. My friend has a 9oz that he never uses, so I may just buy it from him for about 10 bucks if I like the feel of it.

I will post up some pics when I get it.

                              I appreciate all the help.
