    help me out

hey i need some help here on a little hopper situation. i'm not sure if i should get the Ricochet Apache or VL eVLution 2. the apache is cheaper on www.paintballgear.com and ive heard better things about it in some reviews but some people are saying that i should get the eVLution 2. i'm just lookin for another opinion.

I've got an eVLution 2 (Egg) and I like it except that it's back heavy. I don't care for where the feedneck is placed, however, because of where it is, it seems to have a lower profile than other hoppers.
I like the Apaches--I think they look cool and I hear that they work well. I just posted earlier that I saw them on eBay for $50--much cheaper than paintballgear.com for both the Apache and Egg.
    Here's the link:
Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.

I say get it from eBay, or if you're not comfortable with that, try http://www.xtremepaintball.com--they've got the Apache for $10 less than paintballgear.com.

eVLution II seems better and faster to me, but see if you can try both, then decide.

You might get dissed buying a Riccochet by the "serious" players, but I've had zero problems. I've also had very few hopper hits, due to the profile. The Halo seems to work well with fast triggers, so it depends on your budget and playing style. I'm an aggressive front player, so the Ric works fine for me.

I have been thinking about selling my Halo for an Apache because thye are so light. I'd go for the Apache.

I'm rather interested in this claim as I am looking for a new hopper.

How does a gravity fed hopper feed 20bps?

Is this Warpig review for the same item? http://www.warpig.com/paintball/tech...apache_update/

apparently it has, the old one shot 12 bps

Apache and Evo II (according to ratings in a pb mag i just read) have pretty much exact same bps feeding rate. So it's really personal preference... Oh, and there's the fact that the evo II holds about 20 more rounds...

id say get egg because it holds 20 more balls and the proflile of it is smaller but the apache is pretty cool

that's interesting because i thought they both were supposed to hold the same amount...

those are both correct and for the same thing but just so you know the apache isnt just a gravity feed. it is electronic but if the battery dies it can be used as a gravity feed (most electros dont) which is one of the reasons i would actually rather get the apache. but im still not sure

The Apache *is* gravity fed. It uses a colator cup and an impeller to sort the paintballs and rotate them into position over the feedneck. Gravity sends them down into the paintgun.

FWIW the eVLution II is also gravity feed - even though it actively drives th balls into the horizontal portion of the feedneck, they still have to fall, and there has to be a gap in front of the "eye" before the motor kicks on to line up more paint in a position to fall.

Re the 20 bps of the Apache - the manufacturer claims 18 bps, performance based on their in-house drop tests (wich are not the same as on-gun performance.) The first run of boxes were printed with a pre-release optimistic estimate that the number would be 20, based on testing with some of their prototypes. Since a lot of the boxes say 20, folks have run with that, but if you ask Ricochet, they say 18 bps in drop testing.
