    Shots in tournament

I was just noting the three man I played at last week - I used about 300 rounds... we played 14 games.

Is paint usage overrated in paintball?

      It can be.
I was at a local field last week for a Recball speedball night. Just people having fun, so I thought....

then the Ref started a mini-3-man/X-Ball tourney. People were going crazy during the games, some shooting a case every few minutes. I stayed out and teched a bud's BT-16.

      Did you play front?

What position do you play? Unless I got shot out on the break or something I shot at least 4 pods and a hopper from the back.

Front... my team as a whole though went through three cases. For the record, one team there went through 12...

in 3 man, i normally use one pod, if any. And shoot a case - a case and a half per event. And, our team does really well, i dont believe we finished below 3rd in anything we played this season. There are teams who use more cases per player than our whole team, and, its obviously not gainging them anything if we keep winning. I think you shouldnt intentionally hold back on how much paint you shoot, and limit your play, but, no need for the excess paint dumping alot of teams do

              Here's a question:

If massive amounts of fire power are important from a back man, why haven't we seen any mega sized loaders?

Remember when loaders were whalers and you filled them with guppies?

I think back in pump days I saw loader or two that could hold towards 300 paintballs.

weight and profile. reloading is not that big of a chore.

That's exactly why. Having to deal with the extra size and weight when you'll only use the extra size/paint on the break isn't worth it. 140 ball pod into a 300 ball hopper is kind of pointless.

I'd like the Halo to be a little bigger (200 balls perhaps) so you can refill before you're in danger of running dry.

Bah. How much profile does anything add to a backman standing up?

                    And weight?

That's the funniest paintball joke. Everyone crowing about ounces saved on parts and then putting a two pound tank on their gun.

As long as the total weight of a super loader and marker is les than the old PMI, it would be useable.

One of my buds still has his VL3000. People commonly believe (I believe that this is mostly false) that more paint is shot during speedball/tournament games... more paint is shot per period of time, but the games are much shorter. I usually play hopperball during practice/ rec, in tournaments I'll carry 3-4 pods. There are some people that shoot a ton of paint and sit in the back in speedball games... but there are also many that do the same in the woods. Now, when I'm in a tight bunker in a tournament, I want the back player behind me to be dumping paint down the line - but he's just watching the line so that I can move up and get a few out with quick cross shots. The paint is just being shot in 3 minutes instead of 30.

Go to the Team Backwoods website, or else you'll get cancer.

and the 20+ pounds MOST of us paintballers carry around extra in body fat

I've never been one to worry too much about weight but quite a few people are. That, and the 140 ball pods is why larger loaders haven't been marketed.

if you've ever played x-ball then you would know being a "backman" is what it used to be.

tramp makes a good point also about the pod capacity

yeah, to make corner runs, backs have to be as fast or faster than the fronts out there
