Dude, talking about new players (newbies, newbs, etc.) is part of the game. If someone can't handle it, that's their problem.
What the hell are you apologizing for? Because some people don't like your other thread? Big deal. They'll live and so will you.
Sometimes AOers are a picky bunch. You never know who woke up on the wrong side or who had piss in their Cheerios. You can't please everyone--so why try?

I didn't see anything wrong with the thread, with the exception of the posts that were speaking out against it. People that troll AO trying to police threads saying what belongs and what doesn't (excluding the Moderators) are the ones that are the most annoying IMO.

These people think that every thread needs to be on par with the topics they want to talk about. I don't know where this attitude comes from but it's not the AO spirit they claim to have.

Belittling people, their ideas, thoughts, humor, intelligence, is not the roots of AO. Your thread seemed to be innocent in it's intent. It didn't come across as arrogant or belittling, the guys pointing fingers did though.

To me, finding humor in or pointing out things that a "newbie" says or does is not meant to belittle them, or intended to hurt their feelings. We were ALL newbies at life when we started out. I think finding humor in ones lack of knowledge in a subject you understand is normal. BUT, to make a person feel like a failure because of their lack of knowledge or experience in life is just plain wrong, it doesn't matter what the situation is.

How the individual situations were handled (ones pointed out in your discussion) are the important part. Of the posts I read, I didn't see where anyone pounced on the newbie, telling him how "stupid" he was, to me that's what counts.
