Hyper 2 in-line reg (proto reg)

can I use my 45/45 PMI pure energy high output pressure tank? If not, do you guys suggest getting PMI to do an output conversion or to buy a new tank? IF you suggest a new tank, what kind and size?

    Thanks,

The only regs I know of that can't handle more than 500psi input pressure are stock WDP Mini-Regs

    So you're fine.

thanks alot for the quick response, and does anybody else have anything to add like how I should have mine set up when I get it? (I'm talking like the dwell, lpr stuff that doesnt require upgrading parts)
      Thanks,

Actually, I know for a fact the older mini-regs can (and should), as the gun runs off HP pressure. I believe newer miniregs can use low-output HP tanks (say.. 750psi). Worst case is you perform the minireg mod and you can use an HP tank.

Hyper II reg can take either HP or LP output tanks, so your PMI is fine.

wrong, dont use an hp (450 and above) on a minireg, without the mod.

the hyper 2 is a carbon copy, but more stylish of the sidewinder. it is an awesome reg.

set your proto up to stock settings. after it performs out of the box, to the proper fps etc, lube it with slick honey, or dow 33. lower the lpr till you see shoot down, and then lower the dwell till you see shoot down. on the lpr give it enough to get to full fps with out shoot down, and give it another half turn, and on the dwell bump it up one =after you stop seeing shoot down

Earlier Mini Regs can handle high pressure output tanks just fine. I use an 800 psi output Crossfire on my 2k2 Angel. Newer Mini Regs, such as those found on Speeds, A4's and newer require a low output tank.

Converting the new style PMI tanks is pretty easy is it not?

well i got my answer at first, and now I've got my other answer, but i'm confused about the tank question. so the hyper 2 is like a newer minireg and cannot use high output tanks? or can it.

I've heard from several people that they've used HP tanks on their newer Angels without problem (the general problem being they can't get the velocity under 300fps). I believe it's linked to the input pressure to the minireg, with lower-end HP (750-ish) input being tolerated, but high-end HP (800-850+) not being tolerated. No, I have nothing to confirm / deny this. I'll have to take my wifes A4 to the crono with our HP tanks and see what it says I suppose...
