    Anyone feel the same way?

When I first started playing paintball it was SO much more enjoyable. Last time i went to the field It wasnt enjoyable at all. The young refs were being "cool" and letting ONLY their friends use ramping. But then when Im gettin outgunned and cant even stick my head out the door because I have 100 balls streamin by the door. But then when I use slight ramping (didnt really want to) just to hopefully be able to keep up. But then the refs decide im the ONLY one cheating and start callin me out about it. And I thought back to when I first started playing, the people were so much nicer and didnt care aobut being cool or "agg". THey were helpful and cared about the sport not the lifestyle. I was just wonderin if neone has felt the same thing or even noticed it?

Do you really know for a fact that the other players were ramping? There are some dang fast lil kiddies out there now. Either way, i never found ramping to be such a problem playing against. Most people who NEED to ramp, cant gunfight worht a hoot, so, just beat em that way. Anyway, almost all gun cheating stopped when the local field assaped PSP shooting rules, now its 15bps from everyone, be it their first time, or playing for years.

And here seems like a good timet to tackle a subject ive been wondering.- How does AO view the "agg" community/what makes AO in general look down on them? Most of what i see here is that people thing that the "agg" kids are the people who cheat and ruin the game for other players. And, really, i would beg to differ. Because, basically, i have been labeled one of the "agg" players in the local scene. Which to me means, i go out with my friends, and have a good time, we play, laugh, do whatever/dress however, but, we enjoy ourselves, play ball, and play well. It seems here that if a kid is rockin an HK jersey (no, i am not an avid HK supporter, feel it has turnet into more of a bandwagon for 12 yr olds than anything, which, i suppose makes me less-agg, but, whatever (although most of my friends/teammates do support HK)) that everyone on the field not associated with that player is going to automatically label them a cheater. And, thats just not the case.

no problem here... the refs at my field are great. im friends with them and they would let me use ramping if i had it... but thats cause ramping is legal here . but anyway, you definately shouldnt need ramping to be able to compete with players who use it. practice your walking skills if you really need the BPS.

I went to my local field a few days ago and the refs are just crap. I meen, check it out. Two teams playing eachother. I don't remember what the team names were (I'm thinknig one was StonedAssassins cause that's their home field they played alot that day.) One player from the unkown team gets shot by his own player the ref wipes the paint and lets him play, same player gets hit again ref wipes again, that player ended up shooting 3 others on the opposite team. Thats bull****. People nowa days don't care about rules.

but in paintball i like to not shoot and just moove so they dont know where you are.

You hit on something I hadn't thought about. When I started playing in 92 there was no paintball "Lifestyle" I think that might have changed. I saw the same thing happen with skating. I started skating in the mid 80's. By the late 80's there was a skating "lifestyle". You had to dress a certain way, act a certain way and if you didn't the others looked down on you. This is pretty much the way paintball is now.

I just never thought about it that way.

I've tossed around the idea about quitting just recently, (been playing for 13 years) I haven't played since Memorial Day weekend and the day it ended on a sour note. I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man (I'm only 31) but paintball is marketed now to kids from Jr. High to High school age, where looking cool is important, and these companies know that. That's why every year there's new jerseys, markers, pants, gloves, goggles, because these companys know that the younger generation needs to have the latest gear so they can look cool.(agg)
I mostly play in a long sleave Hooters shirt and woodland camo BDU's I don't care if the kids who were only 2 years old when I started playing make fun of me...they'll know when I get them out because I don't dress like any one else and I shoot a MAG!

Im so tired of reading and hearing people complain about stuff like this. Paintball has changed, no one can do anything about it. The best thing you can do for YOUR enjoyment is to get to know people you consider good players at your field, or play with people you already know. The "LIFESTYLE" people you talk about are probably losers, posers, etc. They are little brats in EVERY sport, get over it. It is like people have gone completely retarded on both sides of this arguement.

side a-im so agg, watch me shoot all these people with my ramping shocker that i used to hate but now i love. i look so cool shooting this fast, but i just got shot in the side of the head because i suck.

side b-i hate those guys so much, im so stuck on them that i cannot have fun anymore. they have no skill but they keep shooting me up because I cannot figure out how to shoot them unless they are shooting at 5 bps.

I play with and against both types of people. I dont care how fast, image concerned, cool, ramping, agg, underground, you are, as long as you follow the rules I am fine. I witnessed a yelling match at a kid last week for ramping with his new g7 when he got shot out and then turned to light up someone. I have also argued with the "hardcore" woodsballers about getting out of a game because they were shot in the gun, and had so many "explaining the rules" issues with new people its not funny. I have reffed them all. Everyone has drawbacks, just try to play with people you like.
