Question for AGD

Tom,

I'll soon be getting an emag and with all the time before the summer season starts up again, I'll be doing some neat cosmetic projects to it. Hopefully something following the attached image. What I'm getting at is I'd like the finish to stay shiny without having to repolish it. With your polished mags, I've noticed you never have to repolish them the way you have to other polished things--how do you do this?

Polished stainless holds up much better and longer than polished aluminum. That's the difference you see.

Polished aluminum tarnishes. Either get it chrome plated or clear annoed to protect the surface.

Stainless steel makes its own regenerative protective coat via the oxidation of the chromium in the steel. This is why its so durable and hols up so well.

Clear coating the polish will keep it shinny and it won't oxidise as fast.
If you have a small foundry in your area see if they will coat it for you.

Many metal polishes contain a protective compound. You may still have to repolish, but only maybe once every two months, and not too strenuously.

I'm sort of in the same situation. Approximately how much will chrome plating, or clear annodizinging cost?
