Old Old school... Megameet

Okay, so maybe it isn't THAT old school... but it was around the time right after the intelliframe.

So I was snooping through old stuff since I'm moving into the dorms in a coule weeks and I happen upon a CD that is marked MEGAMEET. Any of you guys remember that idea? Way back when I was screaming out for some huge promotional event to happen and TK thought it was a good idea? It was like a team of old schoolers that was organizing it. Dang Jon was in on it before he left AGD and I think even BlackVCG was part of it. But in the end it got dropped since it was too big of an event for such a small group of people. That or we were lazy.

Well... here it is...

Megameet:
- 3 day event: tournament day, scenario game day, and tech/free time day
- AGD sponsored/aided
- targeted for automags.org
- location near AGD main facilities(give input on what field)
- registration required to attend
- prizes given away during all 3 days
- contests all 3 days

Tournament:
- randomly drawn up rosters from the registrations
- players sign up to play uppon arrival
- AGD provided prizes
- maybe celebrity exhibition matches

Scenario:
- open to all players
- random special assignments/teams to players
- certain special characters/players decided beforehand(generals/mercs)

Tech/Free time:
- supertour
- tech class
- all fields open to players who aren't doing tech

Contests:
- oldest mag: signed up upon entrance
- best looking mag: every player signed up upon entrance
- fastest shooter: player volunteers for speed test at bps measuring chrono or something of the type
- best shooter: player volunteers for snap shooting contest at a shooting gallery: 4 people at a time try to knock out all their targets after the curtain is dropped
- most accurate shooter: 4 people have 10 shots to hit an distant target(distance yet to be determined) most shots on target wins

I'd say we should revive the movement but AO is too small/ too dead. lol

who cares, it sounds like fun and would be near where i am.
i hate to quote field of dreams but "if you build it they will come"!
even if it's not a big event we could turn it into and AO meet and greet or AO-IL meet. we need more of the AO-IL days.

And there was anther interpretation of the megameet that actually happened a little ways back. I think that it was AGD sponsored too.
