    Instant Mix Kool-Aid

Anyone else discovery the wonderous joy that is instant Kool-Aid? I just wanted to preach the gospel of how awesome this stuff is...

I used to buy upwards of 15-20 dollars a week in soda (Mt. Dew). Well, I have been developing out of shape lately and wanted to go into water, to try and help clean me up some. Well, I started buying up 24-packs of Publix brand bottled water for like $5. This would last me the week and all was good. Bland, but good.

Then one day strolling through the ailse's of K-Mart I notice a red and purple bottle nustled between the instand Death-Tea and Crystal(gay)Light... Turns out my favorite fat, talking, pitcher has moved into the 20th century and is now available in an instant mix. No more whole pitcher at a time + 15 bags of sugar to form the sweet nectar of the gods.....

INSTANT KOOL-AID! Just add water... so I ingeniously took my most recent empty bottle of water, cut the top off making the perfect size and shape funnel and now create my own personal bottled Kool-Aid every day. How wonderful is that?

(And before you ***** - this IS paintball talk, because I know a lot of you take bottled water to the field and this is the perfect accessory to ANY day of paintball - sugar rush in a single serving container.)

So aside from the obvious advantages to not drinking a hyper-tonic (sp) liquid what have you gained by subbing in Kool-aid calories and sugar for Soda calories and sugar?

      1. This is the 21st century.

      2. Kool-Aid is far from "nectar of the gods" status.

      3. You're still not drinking any water, you're drinking kool-aid. Taking water and pouring sugar into it is not the same as drinking water with water poured into it. Sure, it's better for you than Mountain Dew, but still more damaging and less effective at keeping you healthy than straight up water.

Reaches it if one adds the appropriate amount of alchohol content to it

Lohman - the point was not about the quality of the substitution - just what drew me to my latest bad habit.

Bob - I know it's the 21st century, but instant mix hype peaked a long time ago. It IS nectar compared to many other things. See above reply about the quality of the drink.

          Lohman - Absolutely!

Dude Kool-Aid is one of the worst things you can put into your body if you are already getting out of shape. Its nothing but sugar and in many cases more so than soda. Just about as bad as people who think Gatoraide is better for you than soda.

If you want something sweet tasting than drink the Crystal Lite that you so badly think will turn you gay .... at least then your treating body better.

Don't misunderstand my gay comment. I meant is in a standard derogative - I don't like the taste, too light and not satisfying. Not that it would make me gay. Geez.

I personally find that I can't get the same thirst quenching satisfaction from sugar water that I can from straight water. It takes a while to condition the body to break away from the addicting properties of sugar, but your body will thank you for it later once your body's chemical levels stabilize.

I drink a lot of flavored carbonated water.

It's just H2O with CO2 and a small drop of citrus oil. No calories, salt, anything.

Basicly it's just a way to drink straight water while tricking yourself into thinking your having a soda or something.

I'm suprised this is still in "Paintball Talk."

That's true but if it also has caffeine then the diuretic properties cause you to lose more water than you're putting in.

Kool-Aid does give you water just with 10 million calories as a bonus.
