I'd bet on that as well.
And to Creative Mayhem: If you want a 45/45 you could just send them a 45ci tank."Relax. Don't worry. Have a Home Brew."

does someone really need to be "trained" to install a reg? I mean really.. loctite her and torque on her.. test the seal with a lower amount of pressure... then GO!Comment

Ok, you guys are right, that's why they won't sell just the reg.
Can you tell me what the correct torque specs are for a tank? Can you tell me what kind of loctite you use, or if you use any at all?

#1- no loctite
#2- Yes there is a specific amount of torque you need to use to attach it. However you don't have the TOOL to do it. There's a handful of them out there. Tuna has one. And Tom had to see and approve it before Tuna could do Flatline teching.
So seeing as how you don't know that you don't use loctite on a tank reg, I'm going to surmise that YES, some people DO need training on how to do it.Comment

Why is loctite a bad thing to use? Curious because the certified airsmith that runs the shop here attached my reg with blue loctite and tightened it with a very large crescent wrench.Comment

It can clog the safety vent and it can cause stress in the threads.Originally posted by MadPSIenceWhy is loctite a bad thing to use? Curious because the certified airsmith that runs the shop here attached my reg with blue loctite and tightened it with a very large crescent wrench.
I got my tanks back from hydro with a note saying that they detected evidence that loctite had been used so they refused to put the tanks and regs back together so they couldn't be help liable if they failed."Relax. Don't worry. Have a Home Brew."

You need a torque wrench and for the flatline you need a special "tool" that slips over the reg and you need a tank vice to properly torque it down. I forget the exact torque specs, but I am pretty sure they are here on AO. I have them written in a notebook at home. That's it. There is an oring and a bunch of threads on the reg to seal it up. No reason for loctite. Some people say to put a drop (yes a drop) of loctite on the top most threads of screw in tanks, but this should not be needed if the reg is properly torqued.
