    What barrel is this?

    Any thoughts on what kind of barrel this might be? It's black, one-piece, 16 inches. I think it might be a Dye Ultralight.

      Well without the picture based on the information you have given. I would say its probably a dye aluminum, if it doesn't have the 2 piece look and looks like a dye barrel I would say that is what it is.

          That barrel you showed is 2 piece. If thats so it looks exactly like my Ultralight. And I mean exactly.

            If it doesn't have DYE written on it somewhere.

            i.e.
            muzzle -> ||||========||==DYE==||//// <- Threads

            Then it's likely to be a 32* Knock Off (e.g. Quiet Riot) of the Original DYE Aluminum barrels (that's actually the name, the Ultralight wasn't even an itch in DYE's crotch yet).

            When I came into paintball DYE had 3 barrels, DYE Aluminum, DYE Stainless (loved this one), and DYE Ironman serries (Later the Boomstick). I'm sad to say the DYE has fallen very far indeed since those days... imo anyway.

              It's definitely a one-piece.

              I can't find dye or anything else written on it. So we're pretty much thinking it's either and old Dye Aluminum or a Quiet Riot? Probably a Quiet Riot since it doesn't have Dye written on it anywhere. Anybody got a pic of a Quiet Riot I can compare it to?

                I looked at a pic of a Quiet Riot...it doesn't look like it. Is it possible that early Dye Aluminum barrels weren't stamped with Dye?

                  I have an early DYE aluminum and it's not stamped with any names. I'm positive it's DYE, I bought it new. I couldn't really tell too much from your picture, but here's what mine looks like on gun ... notice how the "step" in the back is exactly where a standard body ends. I also have a DYE Xcel and from the inside it's exactly the same, same ID and same number and placement of porting holes.

                    Yeah, my buddies bought some old Dye aluminum barrels back in the day... the way early ones didn't have DYE stamped on them, but his LOOKS like a 2-piece (I don't think they dyes looked like that, although it does have a similar front), so I don't think this barrel he's asking about is a Dye.

                      The old ones actually had DYE as a stamp (not engraved) with their old logo, not necesarily engraved, though the later models did have DYE engraved into the barrel later to be replaced by an updated DYE logo, then finaly removed all together with their sphere logo.

                      Also, 32* and the Quiet Riot isn't the only example of a DYE Aluminum knock-off, however it was convenient for use as an example of a barrel with very DYE-esk form.

                        That looks exactly like it. The one thing that really makes me think it is the same one is the single, short line of holes along the side. Many barrels I've seen that look like it either have holes all the way up the barrel and/or in a spiral pattern. I wish my pic would have turned out better. I'll have to take one with better lighting or a better camera...but it looks just like the Dye aluminum you have there.

                            Why definitely not a Dye? It's definitely not the one you found there at action village, no twisting at the end and no emblems.
