    Paintball sniper....

I'm sure there's a million reason's not to post this because I've read a ton knocking the theory of the "PAINTBALL SNIPER". I for one do not use the lone wolf tactics by choice because I believe they only apply to certain rare conditions that allow for "sniper" style attacks on unsuspecting opponents. But I came across the very rare conditions that gave me the ability to be The Elusive Paintball Sniper ...lol...

I attended the Tippmann World Challenge last week. During an attack near the village, I was cut off from my team when a tank came our way. I had to retreat to the cover of the "Water Snake Swamp" for an extended period of time. I squatted real low in the VERY tall brush of the now dry swamp observing a ton of red guys (enemy). They were all over. So instead of going toe to toe with one hundred guys, I tried "sniper " tactics.

I had to laugh, because I was doing to these guys what I swore I wouldn't ever get involved in during countless posts on the subject. But I'll be damned -- it worked !!! - Providing I was very careful that is. I positioned myself in a very dense area of cover, and used a partial clearing to let off SINGLE shots at 4 separate guys over 15-20 minutes. I only took shots at ranges that I knew were where my red dot was hitting dead on, just to ensure the kill was achievable. I even took my hopper off to lower my profile, feeding balls into my E Tac by hand.

But as all good things must come to an end, I was taken out buy a "Counter Sniper" team of 5 guys who stalked me from a flanking position. Just as I was placing my Halo B back onto my marker, they spotted me and it was lights out.

So as for "sniping" -- I'd say its more of a tactic that is very limited to the environment and the type of game. The scenario that TWC presented on THAT day allowed for this, and I ran with the ball. It was real fun, but I'll stick to being a TEAM player if given a choice.

Your "fatal" mistake (at least you didn't mention it) is you stayed in one position, which allowed the counter squad to isolate your position. I've done the exact same thing you did but with one exception: After sniping the one or two players that fell into my kill zone, I moved to a new position and set up a new kill zone. I already knew where I was going to go ahead of time. Took a lot of patience, but it can work if the situation is set up right.

Paintball may not have true "sniping" as markers simply don't have the range to allow the sniper enough time to live through the attempt -- you're just too close to the buddies of the person you just eliminated.

You're right -- but after a while I began to get bored, so it turned into a suicide mission for me. I had my team on the radio, and they were having what sounded like a much better time. So I didn't mind when those guys caught me. I actually shook their hands .. lol.

shooting people with one shot and having it take 15 mins...dude I call that a paintball sniper. People may argue that there are any paintball snipers but I beg to differ (from what Ive seen)

You dont say that to real snipers "Oh, thats not sniping you were just playing army the smart way" you do that you find yourself 6 ft under
