Is there a market for classic bodies?

Is there a market for custom classic SS bodies?

I've always loved the Minimag body, but the cutouts were just far too plain. So, I got to thinking.

Same body length as a minimag, but patterns and cut to the extreme.

Now, my first body attempt is going to be Maple Leafs. CanadaMag

    What next?

Stars and Stripes, Flames, other ideas?

I even thought of doing on with just staggered holes, but all the way back to the feed neck area.

Would anybody else be interested in these or would I be making them for my own enjoyment only?

For those that think there might be a market, I need some more measurements:

I figure vert is easiest. Just need to weld the shortest of feed tubes vertically and then get a clamping feed neck. I beleive there are necks that should clamp to a straight feed neck and a hopper.

Still looking for the best neck to use though.

Drawback to vert is trying to find vertical feed twist-lock barrels.

For power feed, I'd need to know some exact measurements so that the plug would be in the right place.

My CAD drawing is off to the shop for a quote. I'm crossing my fingers that it's not astronomical.

ULE denotes Aluminium, he is asking about SS. Although, I too would like an alum mini body.

A ULE minimag body would be sweet. I have always liked the SS bodies and think that having a SS minimag body with custom cutouts, cocker threading, and vert feed (basically a SS verion of the ule bodies) would be cool. (But that's just me).

didn't luke mod power feed bodies to vert? you could always try something like that for a little more convienience.

Spyder feed necks work fine and there are allot to choose from.

I'm trying to get ball park figures from the shop. It isn't going to be cheap.

These bodies would certainly be decorative. Depending on the price and look I'm debating light vs. extreme cutting.

The Maple Leaf and Star "cheese grater" designs are looking pretty good.

If you want a plain center feed, I'm not going to bother with those. Not at least until AGD sells out:

                        or

Consider AGD wants 150$ for the no-rise polished center feed, 75$ for a standard body, and 100$ for a minimag body.

Yep. Seen a lot of those. Seems they're the best bet.

Feed neck just has to be a simple tube with one cut to mate with the main body. Cuts down on the forming required by the AGD fluted feed necks.

FYI: The last time I built a custom SS mag I had my shop order the SS norise feed cup from AGD. IT was price~50 bucks. The cup was sodiered right to the body. To the best of my knowledge it is the only CF minimag no-rise. I have another diggers VF minimag body I am working on.

What might be easier is to give the body a small feedtube with AKA threads.

I love SS, I would really like to see a straight guage Ti body.

Would there really be an advantage to giving the feedtube threads?

The Spyder clamping feed necks are held to the feed tube by a setscrew or other clamp.
