    freak SS insert quality?

i have a freak on my mag and i gotta confess, i love it.

heres the only issue i have with it:

I went out to the store and bough myself 2 SS inserts, the .89 and .91, from what i read, they were supposed to be better honed and more durable.
well they are certainly more durable, its hard to mess that part up when you have SS, but the finish on them must not have been good at all. i've played 2 days worth with the inserts and already the honing is dulled out and i can see light scratch marks that were obviously made by paintballs being fired through it.

i have owned quite a few barrels (including a dye SS) and have never seen these kinds of results. the inserts still shoot perfectly fine, just like any freak would, but it just sorta irks me that i spent like 40 bucks for 2 inserts that aren't even well finished.

the inserts i have, even the aluminum don't seem like they were finished NEAR as well as my dye or even a $30 pmi barrel i have.
like i said, the freak shoots great, (like any well matched barrel "should")but does seem severely lacking in quality control.

does anyone else have similar experiences with their SS inserts? aluminum inserts?

Ive been shooting a Freak with aluminum inserts for 3 years now with no issues. I have never had the chance to get a close look at the ss ones, so I cant tell you about the finish on them.

Are you sure these are new inserts and not just new to you?

Good question. After seeing one of the owners of a local shop playing a game, at my field with a BM cocker, then seeing it on the shelf for "new," I always wonder about those things.

Inserts: I have alumin Freak inserts and a Boomstick and they all seem the same, streaked.

no, these are new inserts. or at least when i bought them from the shop i was told they were. but they shoot great, i guess i'm just being a little nitpicky, i might just be sortof an isolated incident.
