    propane powered markers!

tippmann has just announced that they designed a new propane powered pump marker that can get 50,000 (not a typo) shots per tanks. go to pbstar to read more. i can see some problems with it, like kids making flame throwers out of their guns or something and the awful smell on the field, but this definately opens up some possibilities. instead of the hassle of getting a battery powered marker, could this be the next step in the evolution in paintball?
when the tank runs out you can simply replace it quick and easy for a few bucks at walmart. with it being a pump, 50,000 shots/per tank will last you years. this is definately interesting.

what are some of your opinions?

Did they release it or is it the same one they have been testing for R&D only?

they announced it to the public that its made, it sounds like they're getting ready get it to the stores and start selling them. it sounds like the major R&D stuff is done.
you should look at pbstar.com, you might interpret it a little different than me.

        This has been discussed before

Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.

15,000 shots is a typo.. it is really 50,000 out of a ~16oz tank. :)

It seems that because propane is so picky about proper air-fuel mixture, it would be difficult to get a wide range of velocities.

The amount of shots is because its a combustion gun...it's basically a fancy schmancy version of a paslode impulse nailer (an electric lighter w/ a barrel on the end)...but freaking awesome none-the-less I want to turn one into an autococker!!!!

How long before nicad makes a mod that turns this thing into a semi-auto?

I think this is a very cool product.

I honestly like the idea. People talk about a "plateau" in paintball, but this is quite the advancement. :)

And at the end of the day you can take what's left, because hopefully you didn't shoot 50k shots, and screw your remote line right into the grill!

first of all, propane is a very common propellant.

                            in airsoft.

"green gas" for the most part, is merely propane with a fragrant and oil mixed in (depending on the mixture)

i do believe the output will be decreased, but capacity should be highly increased (as shown above)

i wouldnt rule it out so quickly. green gas has proven to be safe and very reliable, even with fully automatic metal airsoft guns.

If a semi-auto version came out, i wonder how much the gun would heat up at 5 bps, 10 bps, etc.

                              Funny thought... water cooled!

                              hehe :)
