new marker. even if you stay with a mag, it will be cheaper buying a new marker, even brand new, than buying individual upgrades. if you want a newer mag, just look around the classifieds or PM tunaman, coolhand or roguefactor (depending on the parts you want). if youre looking outside of the mag family, there are many choices. id suggest a promaster, e-bladed cocker, older timmy, older matrix, or... one of 500 other markers.

I'm in the same boat as you. I staying with my trusty Mag.
I just installed the X-valve and tuned the level 10. Works great so far - no more ball chops!!
I thought this was a good place to start upgrading my stock Mag.
Next I'm going for the intelliframe and maybe an ULT.
The level 10 is a great place to start. $225 when you trade in your old valve to ADG.

It depends on what kind of paintball you want to play. Your old mag would be just fine for some style of play, but if you want to throw alot of paint around, you could trade in your classic valve and get a x valve. Then you could go with the RT style trigger or electric.

It all depends on your budget and personal preference really.
With enough money you can make your make into a customized tool of destruction.
It MIGHT actually probably be cheaper if you just went to logic, tuna, or themagsmith and build your mag from scratch. but that all depends on how much upgrading you plan on doing.
the most important upgrades you can do are probably the xvalve and a new trigger frame, like logics ultimate mech frame (don't think its out quite yet), the chimera or intelli.
i strongly suggest you head over to themagsmith.com and logicpaintball.com and look around to see what you like and go from there.
compared to 7 years ago, theres going to be a lot more paint flying in the air. at least half (if not more) of the players at fields these days probably play with electros, so be ready for that. thats the biggest change in paintball i think.
welcome back to the fold. dun dun dun!

Since you said it was almost 10 years ago since you played last I'm going to make and assumption that you are shooting CO2 through your mag. First thing I would do would be to get a compressed air bottle and on/off set up. New set of goggles would be another thing too, ten year old plastic lenses is so very scary. Motorized hopper would be good. Then go play a few games and see what you really need. Like it was posted before it would be cheaper to buy a new mag with ule components and a Xvalve in it that it would be to upgrade and you would still have a backup gun.

I say you should just add LVL10(anti chop bolt), and a motorized hopper. If you are just playing rec, this should be more than fine. In fact, I still use my minimag, still stock(except for warp, revvy, and LVL10)

Thread redirect??? So, can I smoke and play paintball at the same time with a propane powered marker???Originally posted by SPECKhttp://www.tippmann.com/product_guid...x?categoryid=4
God I wish I played pump. I sure as heck hope high-end starts using propane..
50,000 shots from one 16OZ tank!!!!!!!!!! That'd last me the whole year, lol.
Anyway, back on topic, you're in about the same place I was two years ago. I went the route of piecing together my new Mag, mostly because I didn't have the money all at once to get a complete new Mag. I started off with the Level 10 upgrade for my Classic Valve and a 45ci/3000psi HPA tank. Then, got an Intelliframe. I shot that setup for about six months, then got a new mainbody. I finally got an X-valve and then since I only needed a new rail to complete the new marker, I just went ahead and got a rail and cheap foregrip. Finally, I got a ULE Trigger Kit.
All in all, I probably spent $600, which is about $200 more than if I would have just ordered one. But it wasn't all at once, AND I sold my old MiniMag for $200, so it came out even. Along the way, I've traded, purchased and sold a number of HPA tanks.
Then again, I also bought a new Phantom, and two X-Mags this year with accessories....
One thing is certainly true, paintball is more addictive now than when I first started playing back in 1994...I went like this :shooting:
He went like this :tard: then like this :wow: then like this
Now he shoots a Mag too...
