Probably intellectual property.

The particular intellectual property is that National was working on a prototype gun that was essentially identical to the A-5, just without the cyclone and it had a better foregrip.Originally posted by FSU_PaintballProbably intellectual property.

This wouldn't be a first though. National will take a product, do research on it and then produce a near copy of it.

I thought BT meant Battle Tested, but was likely intentionally designed to let people make the wrong assumption - and yes, it is Tippmann - the person, not the company.Originally posted by peeweeThings being what they are Yep BT = Ben Tippmann. sadly with mega corp paintball ruling the day. BT is also being sued / investigated."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr Suess

It's is the BT line...'was' Ben Tippmann before TPI forced the change to BT by NPS. It was purposely done to confuse the public and NPS got called on it. NPS does that all the time as most of it's product line is a cheap knockoff made over seas to purposely control the US market and knock out US manufacturers, even at the cost of NPS losing money in the short run to gain marketshare in the long.
The vast majority of the BT is a blatent copy and rip off, made inexpensivley over seas, of TPI (AKA Tippmann Sports LLC) and PTP product.
