Yeah you guys there in norther NY really get it in the teeth don't you? I used to live up there and when we went back a while ago I saw the sales tax on something I bought and my jaw dropped. I don't know. It may be interesting to have a large chain like walmart furthering the game? It could also be a hinderance. I suppose we'll just have to see where this goes.

I wish I could convince the world that buying everything from wal-mart will hurt them in the long run. Please Please Please, support you local businesses...especially your paintball stores, and if you don't have a local paintball store, find a good online dealer that's not a strongarming giant. order from a company like www.taggearpaintball.com (my only affiliation with this store is that I played against the owner a week ago). this guy is a small local store in the middle of illinois, but he still has a good selection and pretty darn good prices on his gear. this is just one example. Do we give our money to the rich or do we give it to the guy that just trying to get by like us? I'll pay an extra $4 a case for my paint if it means that the guy that I can identify with makes a buck and the already rich corporate @$$ doesn't get to touch my money.

      WOW...that was a rant. sorry.

disclaimer: wal-mart is a necessary evil. yes i do shop there on occasion, but if i can buy the same thing somewhere else, i do. and if you do shop at wal-mart, I'm not claiming i'm better or more enlightened than you...but perhaps more socio-economically aware.

sorry but I choose to shop at the store that my father works at for certain things.
When you are struggling trying to get by the $4 here and there eventually adds up to enough to pay the kids school tutuion (kids education outrules pretty much everything in my life, including utilities) Plus the grocery stores, mom & pop stores, and other retailers around here close way to darn early.

                All true!

I live in SW PA, and buying local is a real struggle. What with mortgage, kids, gas, groceries etc. Local shops charge more than the national chains. Same exact hammer at loews costs more at a local. PB stuff is also at a premium. I do buy local when I can, but thats usually because I cant get it at a national.

Plus, when I leave work anywhere from 5-7 PM), the locals are closed by 4:30-5PM. There are very few who stay open past that.

Big corporations are evil. They provide great retirement, health care, billions in tax revenue, and grants. They bolster local enconomies, provide aid durring times of crisis, develop supply chains to equip the world with products from the four corners of ther earth, all whil providing a profitible buisness model.

The people who ***** about other who are rich are either:

                      2. jelous
                      3. are so clueless as to how rich they themselves are (keep in mind that the top 50% of american salaries start at 30k a year)

                      Ooops was that a rant?

                          Excluding some Big Buisness,
I thought Wally World had such poor health care that in the long run, local and state health services would be taxed worse because of the Walmarts, thus making it worse for a local economy than if it didn't get the store in the first place?

Might just be leftist rhetoric too, IDK.

Last study, commisioned by Wally World themselves an done by respected ecomomists concluded that once a Walmart comes to town the average standard of living and take home pay diminishes.

I'd have to agree. Granted we had a couple problems at my shop, The prices for dealers are INSANE.
Walmart will once again, kill all local specialized shops though. I give it a max of five years, and if Walmart has their way, all local shops will be closed, since lower prices draw too much money away from smaller places (we can't buy 300 tippmanns to get the extra $20 off per gun for example). Say what you want about how people come for service, but that doesn't generate enough money to pay employees, let alone bills and owner if they live off that.
