    AA parts replacement?

So i got a 4500 raptor and a 4500 geddon and i am in need of parts.

I want to see how many of the parts i can buy from Mag dealers (AGD parts) instead of the now over priced AA factory replacements.

For example, can i use a level 10 reg piston in the raptor? Some say the old classic reg piston bleeds air after 800 psi, but what about the LX piston?

Spring pack, will a classic mag spring pack work in a raptor, what about an x-valve or retro valve spring pack?

Reg seats, can i use 4500 Flatline reg seats in these regs?

Reg pins? Will classic valve square top pins function, or could i use 4500 flatline pins with the flatline seats?

O-rings Were just talkin urathane(sp?) o-rings here, nothing exotic that must be made with the blood of babies right? I hear the strut o-rings on the geddon are the same as most fill nipple o-rings....any other easy sources?

Maybe someone could help me make a cross referance sheet, so we could help out both AGD dealers move some rebuild kits; and AA owners (like myself) by giving them some other options for rebuild parts.

Was it aa that went out of business but started up another company with other air tanks? I think nps bought all of the leftover parts kits and items. Or am I thinking of another company?

Yeah i have read bits and peices of that all, and there is a guy with most of the old AA inventory, he has loads of the parts i need. But their expensive, and i would like to support AGD if i could. And that guy isnt gonna have those spare parts forever, im looking for a long term supply. Some paintballers have been known to own their gear for years at a time

Nope, Classic reg pistons vent around 500 psi IIRC. AA pistons dont wear out easily, as long as the one you have is still working, its fine, should last a long time.

Spring pack, will a classic mag spring pack work in a raptor, what about an x-valve or retro valve spring pack?

Yes they (classic style, not others) can work depending on the output you want from the raptor. you'll have to try it.

Reg seats, can i use 4500 Flatline reg seats in these regs?

Maybe, again try it and see. Make sure you get no creep with it in there.

Reg pins? Will classic valve square top pins function, or could i use 4500 flatline pins with the flatline seats?

Classic reg pins wont work well with AA seats, or a flatline seat. It may work, but performance will suffer. no go on the flatline pin either

Strut O-rings dont go bad hardly ever, keep them lubed up (dow is ok on this part ONLY)

16-70 urethane O-rings are the carrier sizes for the geddon, thats the only ones you usally need to change.

Raptor piston o-rings are the same as mags, and the o-ring that seals the body halves is the same a a mag one I believe.

Shane, are the O-rings in these regs standard sizes? I have found o-ring resellers online who have urithane o-rings; is there a size i could give them for the various o-rings that they would be familiar with?

The one im looking at now sells 2 "levels" (for lack of a better term) of urathane o-rings, one rated to 3000 psi (im not sure if this is tear pressure or pressure that it will seal) and the other rated at 10,000 psi; if you know which one should i request....

In the geddon their appears to be a buna o-ring behind the reg seat, can this be changed out for urathane? Should the reg seat be lubed? Is dow or symilar (slick honey and whatnot) alright to use on the seat? My geddon reg pin looks to be "ringed" where it meets the reg seat, does that mean time to replace?

So many questions....it figures when i finally get the air system i always wanted as a newb AA leaves....sigh

well, if they dont know what a 16-70 o-ring is, then I wouldnt buy from them. 16 is the size, 70 is the durometer or hardness rating. that o-ring also is for vigilante/messiah pistons.

              See above

Not sure where you are talking about. Are you talking the reg seat in the tank side? If so, the only o-ring in there is for the seat carrier, which should be a urethane o-ring also. there shouldnt be ANY buna o-rings in a geddon. The Carrier is the round piece with inner and outer o-rings, lube that up with airtool oil, or a silicone lube (chemplex). Dow, and all others like it are death to a 'geddon. It slows them down. Good old gold cup or similar is what works well. and since it so easy to take apart and clean, lube it every 3-4 play days or so. Unless you play in a real dusty climate, then clean/lube as often as necessary. As long as your 'geddon is working good, dont worry about the ring around the pin. We used to replace them when they did that, but the pins are the main part that is specific to AA regs, that and the seats. on a 'geddon, you can flip the seat if it is leaking. Raptors, apocs and all others can NOT be flipped over. Once taken apart they are done, get a new one.

The o-ring place has a large selection, and i dident want to look like a fool when attempting to order, thats why i asked. Now i just need to figure out the rest of the sizes and buy a metric buttload of reg seats and some pins.....then i guess i should be fine. I will probably buy a couple parts kits and just send one of each o-ring to the re-sellers, have them measure up the sizes and sell me a pile of each size. They charge less than .20 per o-ring which is much nicer than the 2.00 per AA stock o-ring.

                Thanks for all the help!!

P.S. I could be wrong, but when i took the tank half of the geddon appart it looked to me that between the "seat seal retainer" (as named in owners manual) and the reg seat there is an o-ring. Maybe this is something the PO tried in an attempt to stop the reg seat from leaking (which it definatly does).

Tell me which o-rings you need sizes for. I got them here somewhere.........

Flip the seat on the tank side, and see if that does it, if not, you'll need a carrier o-ring.
