    Inline Max Flo Problem? Help

    PICS just scroll down

Hey there i just acquired an inline max flo tank. After taking it to the local shop to get it filled the tank started leaking from the macro fitting even if the on/off was on the off position. It wasnt a huge leak but definitely enough for the other people around to notice it. I went onto the smart parts website and couldnt find any instructional manual for it, they only had the old style manifold ones available. Does anyone know what it could be?

The On/Off O ring fails from time to time so if your macro wasn't inserted properly then a leak would certainly come from that area.
To replace the On/Off O ring you have to get to it from the back of the reg so it has to be off of the bottle it is pretty much common sense what you have to remove to get to it...it is a very small white urethane O ring...if it is even that as the problem as again I would check that the macro was properly inserted in the fitting.
If I have misread your post and you meant that as soon as it was filled it leaked (no macro attached) then it is the On/Off O ring for sure.

Might just be your macro fittings are loose.

the bottle was not hooked up to the gun and the air was definitely rushing out of the macro fitting (where the line goes into) its not a loose macro fitting but since the tank was in the off position that means there must be a problem in the on/off area since it was still leaking out.

            here are the pics

This is the correct assembly correct with the aluminum disk going into the spring?

I noticed this light greyish stain in the reg and cannot remove it.

I removed these four bolts and nothing happened, how am I able to access this on/off oring? am i forgetting to take off another bolt?

You don't need to take those out to replace the On/Off oring.

You just need to take out the teeny tiny dia (but very long) allen screw that runs into the On/Off from the back (you can see it in the picture right below the screened opening in the bottle threads).

When you get that out, you can then just pull the On/Off assembly out of the reg body, and then fish the target oring out of there.

When you get it out, you'll want to clean the bore and the seat with a QTip or the like, and then Dow33 the new ring, and seat it into place.

If you hold the reg looking down the On/Off assembly's hole, the new oring goes into a recess on the Left Hand side of the On/Off bore. Just slide it down in there, and press it into the hole with a QTip or something equally not sharp.

Then clean off the On/Off, relube it, and press it back into the bore with the little arm pointing forward.

After you get the On/Off back in there, run the little allen screw back in, and you're done.

And yes, you have it laid out right. The easiest way to get it back together is to just stack it all up in the cap, and then screw the reg into the cap from above.

You want the brass muffler in the bottom, followed by the plastic washer, followed by the spring, followed by the SS top hat looking disk (with the top part of the "hat" facing down into the spring). You'll want to put a little lube on the little nubbin on the underside of the top hat thing (the part that rides on the brass piston).

That stain is just a hard water stain from anodizing. Don't worry about it.

thanks alot coolhand looks like its the 4/90 oring that needs to be replaced, just ordered a rebuild kit from YDnA from shockerowners forum. I figured i might as well get it now as I might need it later down the road.

the o-ring on the on/off has a nick in it on the back side of the max-flo were the tank screws in there is a small allen screw you will see it. take it out then pull the on/off out down insine of the hole in the max-flo body on the side closest to the threds for the tank you will see the oring. some times you can turn it over to the new side and that can work sometimes. make you use alot of smartparts lube when putting it back togeather hope this helps you.

Sorry for the confusion I knew you had to remove a grub screw but since it was a while since I had done it I couldn't recall exactly how I did it, but from memory I knew it was straight forward...good link btw...I also went looking for my manual..found the box but no paperwork . I bought an O ring rebuild kit when I got my regulator but to date (2 years) I have only used the On/Off O ring, which was certainly not the case with the manifold version of the reg so SP must have done something better this time around
