    (*) (*) Interesting Question (*) (*)

ok, so I'm getting back into woods ball since my local feild closed. My question is about the trajectory of a paintball and why it flys perfectly straight for about 25-30 yards and then curves in random directions afterwards. I would like to know how I can get it to fly straight for the entire path. also what might cause it's perfect accuracy to become rapidly worse towards the end of flight. I might aslo add that it was a semi windy day and that could have had some effect on it. my set up is an R/T pro with a classic valve(can only get co2 fills now) 14" J&J ceramic barrel, vertical bottle ASA and CCM clamping feed neck. any ideas are welcome, thanks Also anyone with a halob with z code, please tell me how to stop the jam sequence when there is no jam. I turn it on for like 3 seconds and it goes into jam mode.
eyes have been cleaned, but if I stick my pinky in the feed neck it doesn't stop.

only reason a ball would curve is
A-spin on the ball, which would make it curve depending on the spin.
    b. wind
    c. bad paint, wind hits an air pocket and forces it to one side
or a combination of those. its not the gun making the curve, its most likley the barrel or quality of paint

No paintballs are made perfect, no perfect circles. Theres quality but thast a different thing, shell thinkness...but the fill does matter. since paintballs arent solid and have a liquid rolling around inside, it throws the paintball off course a bit. We havent figured out how to keep the liquid from rolling around inside a paintball yet. We cant just make it thicker becuase different aspects apply there also.

Vortex shedding is why it wobbles...

And maybe the fact that theres 3Gs of lateral force on the ball down range

You also realize that the ball is moving along three independant axis. If you align the X axis with the direction the barrel is pointing, the Y axis vertically, and the Z axis perpendicular to the X axis but parallel to the ground, you notice that the ball is only fired with momentum in the X direction. Later in the flight path the ball has to accellerate, which takes time, in either the Y or Z directions as is decelerates in the X direction due to air resistance.

have you ever thrown a curve ball?? the spin on the ball makes it turn. but the turn doesnt happen right out of the barrel. b/c it is moving so fast the spin doesnt effect it. but when it slows down the spin comes into effect.

              hope this helps!!!!

hey, all the post have been very informative and I thank all those who have posted for their help. is there any way that I can minimize the curve ball effect ? I have a almost perfect paint to barrel match and my paint is usually mid grade due woods ball and its affordable. thanks

Only thing i found that improved my accuracy a lot is the crown point barrel made by AGD. You can buy them from www.airgun.com, and it works very well, especialy because the bore size is the same all of the way down. The only time my paint curved with this barrel is when i shot lower grade paint that was dimpled, but normal good quality paint (diablo) did not curve at longer distances. All i can say is at least give the 8 inch barrel a try, seeing as it's only $20 and mine it really accurate.
