Today I noticed Jayloo.com is moving. When will they be back and will I need to change urls on all my hosted pics?
A host question.

If they just move all files from one host to another and nothing else changes, the URLs should stay the same.Originally posted by WARPED1Today I notoced Jayloo.com is moving. When will they be back and will I need to change urls on all my hosted pics?

Unless they decide the change URL's then it doesn't matter where it is hosted. What will definately happen though (unless they are changing hosts but staying on the same server cluster - very unlikely) there will be a 24-72 hour downtime while the new location propogates around.
In simple terms, when they do move it will take a few days for computers to find the location, but it will find it eventually.Comment

Don't change anything. All pics, vids and everything else is all the same.
The DNS change was submitted to netsol friday night so all whould be well.
The new host is much faster and has way more bandwidth/month.
If you have any questions you can pm me.Comment

Not really tricky it just depends how long your isp caches dns for you. I make all my DNS changes througn network solutions so it is usually stupid fast. This time it took a few days for the new dns for my site to get cached everywhere.Originally posted by WARPED1Working out a new host for them must be tricky is all.
All should be good now.
Switching the main site to a new server gets increasingly harder each time wtih respect to replicating all the functionality of the main site and its other hosted sites while building the new slave servers.
Sorry for the downtime but the quality of hosting should be much better now.Comment

That's how DNS works. Each zone has a TTL (Time To Live) which usually is 5 days. The primary dns server for your zone can make the change right away, but the old data is still valid on other dns servers (DNS is a huge distributed information cache system) till the TTL expires.Originally posted by jaylooNot really tricky it just depends how long your isp caches dns for you. Next time you need to make a change like this, set the TTL to a nice short 10 min. You have to let that change propigate long enough (since the original TTL is still valid till it expires). So set the short TTL at least 5 days before. Then you will be ready for a nice quick change. After all is stable bump the TTL back up to 5 days to minimize the load on your DNS server.
That friends is DNS Changes 101.Comment
