    quick question about barrel lengths

where do you measure from?? I bought a used mag that came with an aftermarket barrel, and when I measured it, it was a little over 15" from end to end.

Is there a certain place to measure from? I'm thinking of getting a tear drop and I'm not sure if I should get a 12" or a 14" and I wanted to use the one i have as a reference for how long it will be.

Also any feedback on the tear drop? Thanks

Barrels length is generally the entire length from breach to tip. For twist locks the barrel is measured from the nubbins forward I believe, but don't quote me on that.

Only measure from where the outside barrel starts to the tip. I mean Measure it when its on the gun. You most likely have a 14" with a 1 1/4" breech.

Just measure it from end to end. Not all barrels or 12 and 14 inches long. For example some AGD's barrels are 11 and 13 inches form end to end.

Is that because they measure from the front tip of the ball to the end of the barrel?

My Crown Points barrel measures exactly 13 inches from tip to base, not in the breach.

Nope, 13 inches is correct. Like I said before, bot all people make their barrels in 12 and 14 inches.

If you want advice on which length to get, I'd go with the 12 inch. I have found that out of thr two it works best with the Automags size. I asked a tech at AGD this same question and he also suggested a 12 inch barrel.
