Do You Buy RETAIL or "Third Party" paintball items more?? (Poll)

Do you tend to purchase New & Used paintball Items from "Third Party" (People/ebay/AO/etc.) or "New" (Retail outlets/Manufactureer/local shops)?

If it's used but bought at a local shop it can be considered "third party". Also If it's a refurb but purchased from a manufacturer it is considered to be "New". ANYTHING new/used from EBAY and Forums is considered "Third Party". Basically, only choose "New" if your purchase directly supports the manufacturers.

    1. Eclusivly New, I would never touch used crap
    2. I ONLY buy Used if stores are sold out and I can't wait until they restock new Items.
    3. I perfer to Buy new stuff moreso than Used
    4. 50/50
    5. I prefer to save money and buy used moreso than new
    6. I ONLY buy New If I NEED it and there are no Used items for sale anywhere
    7. New is for suckers. I live on eBay. I would buy used paintballs if I could.

Depends, I rarely rarely buy new stuff. Only if:

    1) i can't find it used
    2) it's a convience thing - need a fill nipple, a pod or two, want to play tomorrow and need a *something*
    3) the new price is really close to the used price (stuff like rails, on/offs, triggers)
    4) I get a good deal.

It just seems really dumb to buy stuff new when you can get 1/3+ off the price and it will still perform the same.

I only buy items that are "wearable" items new, as in orings, fill nipples, etc, or specialty itmes that can't be found used. I don't really like buying used electronics seperate of the marker either.

The deprciation in new paintball gear is rediculous. Markers and gear haven't changed significantly enough in the past few years to justify buying something new that really isn't better. With the value in many of the used markers and equipment its almost stealing.

        I voted under number five.

Buying used sometimes has good benefits. But I want certain things to be new, Clothes for example, My mask and gloves too. I will buy new guns when I want something certain or special. But for my everyday use guns used is just fine. I am too paranoid otherwise about F'ing up some nice anno (I play in a warehouse with concrete walls and columns on the field).

i only buy clothes, tools, paint, and some other stuff new.
            markers i buy used.

most marker parts i'll buy new though, unless its cocker parts, then i usually pick them up dirt cheap and used.

It really depends on the availability of the part and if I am willing to spend my time searching for a good deal. However, if I am spending over $100, I will spend time searching for a good deal. Especially when it comes to new markers. I still can't bring myself to buy a used Halo. For some reason, I really want to support my local store.

The only item I would never buy used are masks. There is no way to tell if a lense has been cracked or been shot multiple times until you recieve it.

hanks for all the great responses. This is really helpful.

I have a econometrics project doe at semester's end. I really want to a PB related project so It's fun and easy to spend huors with.

Here is my choices as far as projects.

                1) Marker Price vs. performance vs consumer report
                2) Barrel Price vs. performance vs. comsumer review
3)Econometic analysis of the financial side of paintball (uses this poll)

Numbers one and two are my favorite, but I could see them getting expensive. If someone in cleveland/Akron could loan me mostly stock guns or barrels for a day (and participate in the experiment!) I could try one of the first two options. But I am poor and only own 2 mags and a dragun and saving up for a Springfield XD 45ACP or 45GAP, Sigma SW40, or Glock20.

get the springfield xd, an amazing gun ok now back on topic, i mostly buy used because i couldn't see myself playing more than like 1k for a gun. I mean theres a lot better things to spend my money on. And since the technology is always upgrading i dont wanna lose my investment on my gun. I think the depreciation of paintball guns is kinda like cars, but not that dramatic.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices

I Beg to differ, I feel that Depreciation on PB guns can be far more severe. For example Look @ DM's and Timmy's and especially cockers. What's the world coming to when I can trade a 6yr old stock Micromag for a 2yr old Upped vert cocker? I couldn't part w/ the mag though

Cars I think can depreciate to a larger percentage, but only cause they all last like 8 years. Because Cars tend to continue depreciating(sp?) untill worthless. With Paintball guns, your marker just hovers around a really depreciated value unless damaged.

with your case, and like some cars, the parts were so rare that the value decreased slightly, then drastically rose, due to the rarity and oddity factors. Such as micromags and ferrari's. Older ferrari's sold way less used than they do now for collector's reasons. Micro's were a "limited run" so they are a value holder

I try to buy used whenever I can...but if I can't I always go through my local shop, they're good guys and I consider them friends...

I don't mind giving the little guy some business even if it means paying $3.00 more

I like the new upgrades and cool stuff that comes out so they are not usually available used. Only two places to go www.punisherspb.com (for the shockers) and www.themagsmith.com (my mag). Good luck with your project and God Bless.

All the good stuff isn't made anymore.

It's 'used' for me by default.
                              Before: "You're playing with WHAT?"
After: "Crap! It's that guy with the pump!"
