    Hydro question

I some how got a non US tank, 68/4500 Max Flow, a few years back direct from SP and sice it has been so long they will not take it back which I understand but how do I get a non US tank without a DOTE number on it when I buy it directly from them. Does anyone know where I can get it checked or does anyone want it? It is such a waste because it has been sitting in my gear bag for almost 2 years now and has not been used for that long. It is the newer old new style if that makes sense. The tank is attached to the Reg but you can unthread it and put on another tank if you want to change the size or something. If you are familiar with Max Flows you know what I am talking about.

    Thanks in advance

Wow that is pretty bad. If it has a TC number (transport Canada) you could ship it over the border and have it testested but then you would have some red tape since you have to treat an air tank differently with shipping.

Other than that is it a blank tank? I can only think of the tank having a DOT, TC or both numbers...

Man, I don't know. I wonder since tanks are either 3 or 5 year hydros if you just take it in to hydro it and by default every 3 years there after if that would work? The DOT number is just to classify it as a 3 or 5 year tank so I thought. Maybe there is info from the DOT on such a subject? that will give me something to do in the morning. I shall look then.

No I tried to get it Hydroed at several places and they said they will not even do the test without the DOT number on it. The tank has the normal label with the test date and all the tank info but there is just no DOT number on there.

We that does suck. Maybe there is a place to get it classified? Or then get a new bottle for the reg and be done with it.

I might just have to get a new bottle but won't the threading be metric if it is non US and the US bottles be standard? I don't want to strip the threads putting on a different bottle.

Yes another good question, humm. I thought bottles all had the same theads, but I'm not really sure if there is a difference between US and something from abroad. Again something for me to do in the AM.

Maybe you could have one of thoughs hydro testing places just pull the reg. At that point you will be able to check the tread pitch to see if it coinsides with US specs or is something different.

I found an article involving a scuba tank and no DOT Cert. After researching it the fella was told It would be anywere from 1000 to 2500 for his tank to get a DOT CERT and was better off replacing it. No news on thread pitch yet.

Also I sent email to smart parts asking if the reg will fitt a US bottle. Can't find any info on it. I'll post their reply when I get it.
